Singapore:
Zhang Lian-Wei created history by becoming the first Chinese player to win an event on the European Tour in the Caltex Singapore Masters today, even as defending champion Arjun Atwal finished a dismal tenth.
Zhang shot a two-under 70 on the final day, for a four-day aggregate of 10-under 278, shattering Ernie Els' dream of winning a fourth straight title after the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Mercedes Championships and the Sony Open.
While Atwal shot a par round of 72 to tie for the 10th place at three-under 275, Asian Number 1, Jyoti Randhawa shot a final day's score of 73 to tie for 38th place at two-over 290, while Amandeep Johl finished joint 60th place at seven-over 295.
India's other challenger, Jeev Milkha Singh shot his second successive 80 to finish way down the ladder at 66th place with a nine-over. (PTI)
