Indianapolis:
Paul Tracy will miss the Champ Car World Series season finale with a broken shoulder.
Forsythe Championship Racing announced on Monday that it has withdrawn Tracy's car because the shoulder he broke last week in an all-terrain vehicle accident is not healing fast enough.
The accident happened in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Tracy lives. A story circulated that Tracy was drunk and hurt himself when he tried to jump a golf cart over sand dunes.
"This story has gotten blown way out of proportion,'' Tracy said.
"Basically, what happened is that I was out with some friends playing around with an ATV that I own and it just got a little out of hand, I flipped it over and it landed on top of me.''
Tracy, fifth in the Champ Car standings, nine points in front of former teammate Mario Dominguez and 10 ahead of Bruno Junqueira, said doctors recommended he stay out of a race car for a few weeks to let the bone heal properly.
Tracy's withdrawal from the Gran Premio Telmex in Mexico City will end a streak of 136 consecutive starts for the Canadian driver. (AP)
