Medical experts predict Michael Schumacher won't make full recovery

Chances of Michael Schumacher making a full recovery has all but ended with media reports quoting neurologists as saying that being in drug-induced coma for over two months have dashed any optimistic hopes. The seven-time Formula One champion has been in a hospital in Grenoble since December 27 last year when he met with a tragic skiing accident. Although doctors have been working diligently to recover him, the German legend has hardly shown any signs of improvement.

"The fact that he hasn't woken up implies that the injury has been extremely severe and that a full recovery is improbable," Daily Mail quoted Dr Tipu Aziz of Oxford University as saying, although he is not connected with the case in any way. "If you don't start getting any positive signs, that becomes very worrisome."

Another medical expert - Dr Anthony Strong of King's College in London - was of the opinion that time in coma gives an idea about chances of survival and recovery. "The longer someone is in a coma, the worse their recovery tends to be," he said.

While Schumacher's agent - Sabine Khem - has said that the former racer continues to be in the 'wake-up phase', his family and doctors treating him have not given any conclusive updates on Schumacher's recent condition. This has also led to seven unconfirmed speculations with one even suggesting that doctors have already given up on reviving him.

Meanwhile, friends and fans continue to pray for even the smallest sign of an improvement. On Sunday, it was reported that organisers of Bahrain Grand Prix even renamed the first corner of the track after Schumacher, in his honour.
