Jussi Valimaki won the Asia Pacific Rally title for 2005 in the last race in Indonesia. After having won the previous six legs of the Asia Pacific Rally, the Rally of Thailand was to be a showdown between Valimaki and world rally leader Toshi Arai from Japan. However, at speeds exceeding 200 kph, the fast roads of Thailand seemed to suit Valimaki's MRF Mitsubishi car more. The 31-year-old won 15 of the 16 stages of the rally. Jussi completed a total of about 550 km over two days with a time of 2:04:20. He has already won the title and now his lead is 40 points over Arai and Kiwi driver Geoff Argyle. The final event in the APRC calendar is the Rally of China, which takes place in November. Win or lose, Valimaki will be celebrating as will team MRF from India who will be very proud of their flying Finn.Topics mentioned in this article
