Lisbon:
Sweden were the first team to arrive in the Portuguese capital Lisbon for Euro 2004 on Sunday.
Co-coach Tommy Soderberg and midfielder Anders Anderssson spoke about their nation's chances of progressing from a tough quartet that also consists of Group C favourites Italy, Scandinavian rivals Denmark and outsiders Bulgaria.
Sweden's reputation as a nation that excel in qualifying only to under-perform or fail at the final hurdle in the final tournament is justified.
But both Soderberg and Andersson hope that they can improve upon 1992 and 1994 when the reached the semi-finals of the European Championships and World Cup respectively.
Sweden's first game in the championships is against Bulgaria at Sporting Club de Portugal's Jose de Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon next Monday. (AP)
