Inter Milan's woes only got worse on Sunday as it slipped to a 1-0 loss at home to bottom-place Novara in Serie A, despite having a man advantage for the final 10 minutes.
On-loan Genoa striker Andrea Caracciolo scored the only goal of the game in the 56th minute to inflict more misery on Inter, which lost 4-0 at Roma last weekend.
Novara midfielder Ivan Radovanovic was dismissed for a second booking and although Inter went closer in the dying stages, with Wesley Sneijder hitting the crossbar, it could not find the equalizer.
It is Inter's fifth successive game without victory in all competitions. Novara is now level on points with Cesena and four points off safety - albeit having played two games more than Siena.
Elsewhere, Catania beat Genoa 4-0 and Lecce held Atalanta to a goalless draw.
