Madrid:

Real Madrid was eliminated from the Copa del Rey on away goals after a 1-1 home draw against second-division Valladolid. Midfielder Xavi More scored the deciding goal in the 77th minute to send Valladolid into the quarterfinals of Spain's knock-out competition on Wednesday. Madrid, which suffered its first disappointment under coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, took the lead through Michael Owen in the 66th minute. The two teams drew 0-0 in the first leg last week. Madrid has not won the Copa del Rey in 12 years. "If we play like we did today we'll be eliminated from the Champions League," Luxemburgo said. "I'm sad but we have to continue. Looking at the calendar it could be good for us but I don't like being knocked out of a competition. I always want to win," he added. In other matches, Athletic Bilbao and Numancia both overcame deficits against lower league rivals to reach the last eight. (AP)
