Liverpool beat Newcastle 3-0
Liverpool won 3-0 against Newcastle at Anfield.

Two goals from Danny Murphy and a third from Dietmar Hamann kept Liverpool in the premiership hunt yesterday landed them with a 3-0 win over Newcastle at Anfield.
Play was held up for half an hour due to a power failure, but Liverpool reacted better to the delay, dominating throughout against a toothless Newcastle attack. Murphy's first came after half an hour, he added a second eight minutes into the second half and Hamann put the icing on the cake for Liverpool as the visitors pushed forward towards the end.
Once play finally started, the crowd had to wait till the 18th minute for the first real chance. Nicolas Anelka with a powerful drive but it was well save by the Newcastle keeper.
In the 32nd minute and Anelka was at it again. This time the French striker set up Danny Murphy, who drilled in his sixth goal of the season to put Liverpool ahead.
Newcastle had a chance to level the match. But Acuna hooked his shot over after a goalmouth scramble.
The visitors found themselves two goals down eight minutes after half time. Some bad defending by Newcastle and Murphy made them pay with his second goal of the match.
Newcastle looked to have pulled one back on the hour mark. Nolberto Solano's free kick deflected home by Carl Cort, but the referee disallowed it because of a handball by Cort. The replays confirmed his decision.
And Liverpool sealed the three points after Anelka found Dietmar Hamann and the German international calmly side footed home from 20 metres out.
The Reds remain third in the table, two points behind Manchester United and one behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand.
