Fresh from winning Harwood League championship, Mahindra United are determined to keep their unbeaten record intact when they take on Goa's League champions Zee Churchill in the National Football League at Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.
Mahindras, leading the table along with Salgaocar with 12 points from 6 matches, hold a clear edge over their rivals having beaten them twice in the national league last year and in the Federation Cup this year.
The team, which has cream of Indian players, is a strong side with good bench strength. They would be playing with full strength and the four Nigerians will add more flavour to their team.
The Nigerian duo of strikers Okolo and Bala Usman have a lot of style and sting to trouble the rival defence which will be handicapped in the absence of dependable stopper back Mahesh Gawli who is nursing a leg injury.
Mahindras' defence is formidable in the hands of Isa Eroje, Habib Adenkule, M Suresh and Anthony Pereira.
Wingback Anthony and Suresh who overlaps on the flanks with surprise attacks and tears down the opposition defence successfully, will give more support to Jules, Venkatesh and Jamil to pierce the rival defence with accuracy.
On the other hand, Zee Churchill, placed fifth with 9 points from 6 matches, do not look impressive as they struggled to score goals in the last 3 matches after having gotten off to a good start beating JCT and Punjab Police. (PTI)
