Kolkata:
Bangladesh's Mukti Joddha Football Club today edged past India Under-19 team 1-0 to enter into the quarter-final alongwith Vietnam's Nam Dinh in the 107th IFA Shield football tournament here.
In-form Nigerian Emeka Achilefu struck the winner two minutes from half time in the lacklustre group C encounter by heading home a centre from Ariful Kabir Farhad.
Achilefu had earlier scored a brace in his team's 4-1 triumph over Nam Dinh on Wednesday.
The match at the Mohun Bagan ground was mostly confined to the midfield, with attacks few and far between, though Mukti Joddha enjoyed territorial domination.
The foreigners secured more number of chances, but failed to increase the margin due to the ineptness of their upfronters.
Having won both its matches, the Bangladeshi club secured the top position in the group gleaning full six points. Nam Dinh finished second with three points, while the India Under-19 side had to bow out empty-handed. (PTI)
