Carlo Ancelotti spoke out in support of Fabio Capello on Saturday and said his Italian compatriot's decision to resign as coach of England was "the right thing".

"I agree with Fabio," said the Paris Saint-Germain coach.

"The English Football Association took a very quick decision, without consulting their coach. For those reasons, I think he did the right thing."

Capello stepped down on Wednesday after expressing his disagreement with the FA's decision to strip John Terry of the England captaincy over the racism allegations facing the Chelsea defender.
