Bundesliga champion Dortmund announce record revenue

Bundesliga champion Borussia Dortmund has announced revenue of €101.4 million ($134.7 million) for the six months to December last year, breaking the €100 million mark ($132.9 million) for the first time.

Dortmund says revenue from July 1 to Dec. 31, 2011 is up more than €30 million ($39.9 million) compared to the same period in 2010.

Pretax profit rose to €16.7 million ($22.2 million), up from €4.3 million ($5.7 million).

Dortmund, won the Bundesliga for the first time since 2002 last season, says strict financial control coupled with sporting success helped boost the figures.

The club flirted with bankruptcy in the seasons after its previous league success.
