MS Dhoni took the English bowling apart on Friday when he smashed a 70-ball 87 to propel India to 300 against England. He returned to rally his bowlers to script an emphatic 126-run win.
The India captain walked to the middle when the spin of Samit Patel removed a well-set Virat Kohli (37). The start to his innings was cautious but once he reached double figures, the early signs of intent became clear. A shot through extra-cover off the bowling of Tim Bresnan and England fielders were pushed back to the boundary.
Suresh Raina on the other end was leading the attack but once he fell on 61, Dhoni took charge of the procession and clobbered his way to remain unbeaten in the innings. He had 10 boundaries and a six to show for his efforts.
