IOC: US to provide files on Tyler Hamilton doping case

The IOC says U.S. anti-doping officials have agreed to turn over files on American cyclist Tyler Hamilton's doping case so the Olympic body can decide whether to readjust the medals from the 2004 Athens Games.

The International Olympic Committee asked the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency to provide the documents so it can proceed with its procedures to formally strip Hamilton of the time-trial gold and possibly move other cyclists up in the medals.

The IOC's eight-year statute of limitations for revising results runs out in August.

IOC vice president Thomas Bach says "USADA assured us that we will get the report before" the deadline expires.

The Russian Olympic Committee wants retired Russian rider Viatcheslav Ekimov to be upgraded from silver to gold.
