Zimbabwe players have threatened to boycott the third and final ODI against Pakistan on Saturday protesting their unpaid salaries.

According to a report in IndependentSport, the newly formed players' union, comprising Hamilton Masakadza, skipper Brendan Taylor, Prosper Utseya, Elton Chigumbura and Vusi Sibanda, have stopped preparations until they get paid in full.

The players were promised their outstanding salaries and winning bonuses from the Bangladesh tour by August 28. But the players union informed the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) managing director Wilfred Mukondiwa that they will not take part in Saturday's series decider if they are not paid by Friday.

Zimbabwe won the first match by seven wickets but lost the second by 90 runs on Thursday.

"ZC came up with these dates (for payment) and not us, but today is the 30th and still nothing has been done," said a player. "The managing director (Mukondiwa) was told in the morning that there would be no training or match tomorrow if we are not paid. We have also written a letter and we are awaiting a response," he added.

Each player is owed around USD 3 000 as winning bonuses for the Bangladesh series over and above their salaries which are a month in areas.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe have called off a home series against Sri Lanka scheduled to start in October.

Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement on Friday that it has received a letter from the Zimbabwe Cricket Board in which it said the tour should be rescheduled to a "future mutually agreed date."

The countries were due to play two Tests, three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches.
