KL Rahul | 44 | 97 | 5 | 0 | 45.36 |
c Shai Hope b Roston Chase
34.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Great keeping here by Shai Hope and KL Rahul is out of here in a very disappointing manner. This is bowled flat and down the leg side, Rahul looks to flick it but gets the faintest of touches off his glove on it. The ball goes further down the leg side, Hope follows it and takes a good catch. Rahul is gone and just short of his half ton. Rahul looks very disappointed as he leaves the pitch and he should be as well as this was a nothing ball. The 68-run stand between Rahane and Rahul is broken and the hosts get a much-needed wicket. 93/4
Mayank Agarwal | 5 | 13 | 1 | 0 | 38.46 |
c Shai Hope b Kemar Roach
4.2 OUT! Caught! Beauty! Agarwal has to depart. Huge appeal from the Windies players as this go past the bat of Agarwal who has again not showed any feet movement. Good length ball from Roach which leaves the batsman just a hint to go past the bat. Holder and Windies appeal in unison but the Umpire is unmoved. That looked close though and Holder goes for the review as he thinks there's an edge. Ultra edge arrives to show a spike as the ball passes the bat. Roach gets a breakthrough for West Indies early on. 5/1
Cheteshwar Pujara | 2 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 50 |
c Shai Hope b Kemar Roach
5 OUT! CAUGHT! Roach is on fire! What a ripper to get Pujara. Superb delivery outside off, held its line again as Pujara looked to play at it. The ball kisses the outside edge of the bat and Shai Hope is not gonna miss out. The best batsman of the last Test series for India is outta here. He does not look to fiddle at the ball outside off this early in the innings but he felt for that one outside off, maybe because the ball was coming in but left a hint when it came close to the bat. But not the way Pujara starts his innings. What a start for West Indies though. 7/2
Virat Kohli C | 9 | 12 | 2 | 0 | 75 |
c Shamarh Brooks b Shannon Gabriel
7.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Short ball and Kohli is gone. The plan to get the skipper out on the short one has worked here. Gabriel bowls this one just outside off, the ball pitches and shoots off the pitch. The skipper looks to fend at it but is only able to slice it towards gully where Brooks takes an easy catch down to his right. India three down and are in deep trouble here. 25/3
Ajinkya Rahane | 81 | 163 | 10 | 0 | 49.69 |
b Shannon Gabriel
59.4 OUT! Bowled! Chopped on! Rahane is dismissed on 81 and one must say it is a very soft dismissal after a great innings so far. Length ball outside off, Gabriel bowls this one coming in with the angle. Rahane looks to cut it but gets an inside edge on it and the ball is chopped onto the leg stump. Rahane looks distraught at how he has got out and one can say he has rode his luck in this innings. Rahane departs and India are 6 down for 189 with two new batters are at the crease. Window of opportunity for the hosts? 189/6
Hanuma Vihari | 32 | 56 | 5 | 0 | 57.14 |
c Shai Hope b Kemar Roach
54.5 OUT! CAUGHT! The West Indies have again found a breakthrough at a crucial moment and half the Indian side is back in the hut. Roach bowls this one on a length, on the fourth stump line. He gets this one to swing away after pitching. The edge is induced from Vihari and the ball barely carries to Hope but he dives well in front to take a low catch. Vihari will be disappointed to get a good start and then depart at such a crucial time. Third wicket for Roach in this innings. 175/5
Rishabh Pant Wk | 24 | 47 | 4 | 0 | 51.06 |
c Jason Holder b Kemar Roach
70.5 OUT! Caught! West Indies strike early. Number four for Roach. Good length ball closer to the fourth stump. Pant after hitting a couple of good shots goes hard at the ball. It shapes a tad bit away to take an outside edge and go to the Windies skipper, Holder who takes it comfortably at second slip. One would wonder if this style works for Pant as he looked to get in. Maybe he should play with the attacking instinct that he possesses. For now, West Indies have the upper hand now as he could've been dangerous. The question which stands is how Jadeja will play from here? 207/7
Ravindra Jadeja | 58 | 112 | 6 | 1 | 51.78 |
c Shai Hope b Jason Holder
96.4 OUT! Caught! Holder closes the Indian innings with his first wicket. Lands this one on the shortish length which is coming on the body of Jadeja. He looks to slam this with a pull but gets a top edge as the ball hurries on to him. The ball goes high in the air behind the keeper as Shai Hope goes back to pouch that one comfortably. A fighting knock from Jadeja as he batted with the tail. 297/10
Ishant Sharma | 19 | 62 | 1 | 0 | 30.64 |
b Shannon Gabriel
90 OUT! Bowled him! West Indies have finally broken the stand. Gabriel goes for another fuller one outside off, rolled his fingers on that one. Ishant came forward to block this but gets an inside edge on to the Stumps. He looked solid out there. Chance for the Windies bowlers to wrap the innings before Lunch. Ishant's vital innings comes to an end. 267/8
Mohammed Shami | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c & b Roston Chase
90.2 OUT! Caught! Back to back wickets for West Indies. Soft dismissal this one. Loopy delivery on middle, Shami chips this towards the bowler who goes towards his right to pouch it comfortably. He went with a slightly harder hand to the ball but it goes off the inner half of the willow. 268/9

c & b Ishant Sharma
17.5 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! This time Brathwaite lobs it back to the bowler. His vigil ends. Fuller ball on the fourth stump line for Kraigg who looks to drive this through mid off but he has his bat face closed as he drives. The ball lobs towards Sharma who takes an excellent catch off his own bowling. 48/2
John Campbell | 23 | 30 | 4 | 0 | 76.66 |
b Mohammed Shami
8 OUT! Knocked him over! Shami has a wicket in his first over. Bowled a fuller ball on the fourth stump line to the left-hander. Campbell comes forward to jam the ball but drags it back to the stumps. Campbell was going all guns blazing but this was one shot too many for him. 36/1
Shamarh Brooks | 11 | 36 | 1 | 0 | 30.55 |
c Ajinkya Rahane b Ravindra Jadeja
20.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Debutant is outta here. Three down West Indies! Shortish ball on middle, Brooks went back to cut this through point but he gets an outside edge which hits Pant on the pads and lobs straight to Rahane. Might consider himself unlucky there. The top three are in the hut for Windies. 50/3
Darren Bravo | 18 | 27 | 2 | 1 | 66.66 |
lbw b Jasprit Bumrah
29.1 OUT LBW! Bumrah strikes first ball of his over after Tea. Or has he? Bravo has decided to take the LBW decision upstairs. Good length ball on around off, Bravo looks to flick but he misses and is hit on the pads. Bumrah and the Indian team make an appeal and the umpire raises his finger after taking his time. Replays roll in with Ultra Edge confirming no bat involved. And then, Ball Tracker comes in and it confirms the decision of the umpire that the ball was shattering into the middle and leg stump. Great decision by the umpire there. The Windies have lost their first review. Number 50 for Bumrah in Test match cricket. 88/4
Roston Chase | 48 | 74 | 5 | 1 | 64.86 |
c KL Rahul b Ishant Sharma
42.2 OUT! Caught! Sharp catch that by KL Rahul! Chase departs just two short of his half century. Oh wait! The umpires are checking for the no ball there. That looks very close. Well, legal one confirms the umpire and Chase takes the long walk back to the pavilion. This is a good length ball on middle, Chase flicks it off his back foot but KL Rahul at square leg takes a sharp catch. End of a 42-run stand. Timely wicket for India this one. 130/5
Shai Hope Wk | 24 | 65 | 1 | 0 | 36.92 |
c Rishabh Pant b Ishant Sharma
54 OUT! Caught by Pant coming forward. Yes, a clean catch that one. Fullish length ball outside off, shapes a tad bit away as Hope has a poke. Gets an outside edge and the ball goes to the keeper. It dips as it goes to Pant who comes forward to pouch this one comfortably. Some doubts there regarding the catch but Hope has to walk back as it looks a clean catch and the same has been confirmed by the third umpire. Another timely wicket for India and another Windies batter walks back after getting a decent start.Ishant gets his third. West Indies still behind by 123 runs. 174/6
Shimron Hetmyer | 35 | 47 | 3 | 0 | 74.46 |
c & b Ishant Sharma
55.3 OUT! Superb catch of his own bowling by Ishant. They again check for the front foot no ball but this is safe. Good length ball on middle and leg, Hetmyer looks to push with hard hands towards mid on but because of the closed bat face, the ball lobs towards Ishant. He does really well to get down and grab that one nicely. Number four for Ishant as he removes another set Windies batsman. It is just his third caught and bowled in 91 Test matches. Can he take a fifer here? 179/7
Jason Holder C | 39 | 65 | 5 | 0 | 60 |
c Rishabh Pant b Mohammed Shami
73.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Excellent delivery from Shami. It is a good length ball outside the off stump line, Holder goes for a drive but gets a thick outside edge back to the keeper. The Windies seriously needed Holder to stay out there in the middle in order to get any closer to India's score. A good partnership of 41 runs comes to an end. The hosts still trail by 77 runs. 220/9
Kemar Roach | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Virat Kohli b Ishant Sharma
56 OUT! CAUGHT! Fifer for Ishant as Kohli gobbles this catch in the second slip. West Indies in all sorts of trouble now. Fullish ball around the fifth stump, Roach looks to drive this one but the ball takes an outside edge and goes straight to Kohli at second slip. The skipper is not going to miss out on that one. He takes it comfortably and celebrates with his bowler. 9th fifer for Ishant and this one has left Windies reeling. The hosts are still trailing by 118 runs. 179/8
Miguel Cummins | 45 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
b Ravindra Jadeja
74.2 OUT! BOWLED! The Windies have been bowled out for 222 and trail India by 75 runs going into the third innings. Cummins is the last man to be dismissed after he faced 45 balls without scoring a single run! Jadeja comes around the wicket and bowls this one flatter and on the off pole, it spins back in just towards Cummins. He goes to slog sweep it but misses the ball altogether and it crashes into the off pole. The stumps are shattered and after a frustrating opening hour for the visitors, they have taken both the wickets quickly after Drinks. 222/10

b Roston Chase
29.2 OUT! BOWLED! What was that from Rahul? A total lapse of concentration maybe. Chase floats this one outside off, and it turns towards the wicket. Rahul goes down on one knee and tries to play the paddle sweep but completely misses the ball and it shatters into the stumps. He was way too early into the shot and is deceived by the slowness of the delivery. Rahul departs after getting off to another fine start. India are effectively 148/2 and still hold the advantage over the hosts. 73/2
Mayank Agarwal | 16 | 43 | 2 | 0 | 37.20 |
lbw b Roston Chase
13.2 OUT! LBW! Mayank Agarwal is out of here and departs cheaply in consecutive innings. Chase floats this one full and just around the off pole, Mayank looks to paddle sweep this one but misses the ball completely to get hit on the front leg. It looks plumb to the naked eye. After consulting with Rahul at the non-striker's end, Agarwal decides against taking the review. But wait, replays roll in, Hawk Eye comes into play and it shows that the ball was MISSING LEG. Mayank would be feeling unlucky here but on the first instance it looked to be crashing into the stumps. India lose their first wicket with 30 runs on the board. 30/1
Cheteshwar Pujara | 25 | 53 | 1 | 0 | 47.16 |
b Kemar Roach
30.5 OUT! BOWLED! Beautiful delivery from Roach. It is bowled on a good length outside off which swung into the batsman. Pujara looks to defend but the ball goes between the bat and pad and it goes on to hit the stumps. Pujara's defense has been breached which is rarity for him. Roach comes back well after being hit for a boundary on the first ball. Back-to-back wickets for Windies. They have a chance to peg India back here. 81/3
Virat Kohli C | 51 | 113 | 2 | 0 | 45.13 |
c John Campbell b Roston Chase
73.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Chase removes skipper Kohli in his very first over of the day. Flighted delivery around off and middle, Kohli looks to work this towards the leg side but he closes the face of the bat early and gets a leading edge. The ball lobs towards Campbell at short cover who takes the ball over his head in the second attempt. Early blow for India. The 106-run stand between Rahane and Kohli is broken. A very soft dismissal for Kohli this, which we do not see very often. Third wicket for Chase in this innings. 187/4
Ajinkya Rahane | 102 | 242 | 5 | 0 | 42.14 |
c Jason Holder b Shannon Gabriel
108 OUT! CAUGHT! Signs of urgency? Good length ball on off and middle, Rahane looks to slam this one over cover but mistimes it as the bat turns in his hand and the ball goes off the toe end of his bat towards cover. Holder takes a simple catch running back. Vihari runs towards Rahane to congratulate him. The commentators on air wondered if he was going off with him but that wasn't the case. A brilliant innings by him comes to an end and he is dismissed for 102. He has done well to put India in a dominating position as they lead by 397. The 135-run stand has been broken here. 322/5
Hanuma Vihari | 93 | 128 | 10 | 1 | 72.65 |
c Shai Hope b Jason Holder
112.3 OUT! CAUGHT! No century for Vihari then. And that is a very poor ball to get out to. This is shortish ball going down, Vihari looks to pull this one away but gets a faintest of touch of the gloves and the ball goes down the leg side for Hope to swallow. He does not make a mistake. Kohli declares with that wicket. Target for West Indies will be 419 runs. 343/7
Rishabh Pant Wk | 7 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 70 |
c sub b Roston Chase
111.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Substitute Keemo Paul takes the catch at deep fine leg and Pant's short innings comes to an end. This one was tossed up on the leg pole, Pant gets down on one knee and looks to slog sweep it for a maximum. He does not get proper contact on it as it comes off the toe end of the bat and Keemo Paul does well as he dives forward and takes a difficult catch. India 6 down now and they are looking towards the skipper for the declaration. He says no as he wants Vihari to complete his ton maybe. 336/6

1.4 OUT! First blood drawn! Exactly the kind of start India wanted. Good length ball outside off which shapes just a tad bit away. Brathwaite fends at it but gets an outside edge on it and the ball goes straight to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. Brathwaite's poor run in the game continues but he would have wanted to continue here as West Indies are way behind India. The Windies lose their first wicket and they still need 412 runs. 7/1
John Campbell | 7 | 15 | 1 | 0 | 46.66 |
b Jasprit Bumrah
3.5 OUT! BOWLED! Knocked him over with a ripper! Fullish ball on off, Campbell is rooted to his crease as he goes for an expansive drive but misses the ball altogether as he played down the wrong line. The ball sneaks in to uproot the off stump. Windies in all sorts of trouble early on. 10/2
Shamarh Brooks | 2 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 40 |
lbw b Ishant Sharma
4.1 OUT! LBW! Another one! Game over on the fourth day? Full ball on middle from Ishant, Brooks looks to flick this but misses it altogether to get hit flush on the pads. Huge appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger after thinking. The batters converge to discuss about taking a review but they decide against it. A good call eventually as the Ball Tracker arrives and it shows that the on-field call would've stayed as the ball was clipping the leg pole. 10/3
Darren Bravo | 2 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 20 |
b Jasprit Bumrah
7.3 OUT! BOWLED! Bumrah is on fire! Number three for him and half the Windies side is done inside 8 overs for just 15 runs. Fuller ball on off, swinging into the batsman. Bravo looks for a drive by being rooted in the crease. The ball swings in to sneak through the bat and pad to shatter the stumps. Bravo has no clue what happened as he walks back to the pavilion. AND THAT WILL BE TEA ON DAY 4. 15/5
Shimron Hetmyer | 1 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 8.33 |
c Ajinkya Rahane b Ishant Sharma
7 OUT! CAUGHT! This time Hetmyer holes out and Rahane makes amends for the dropped catch by his skipper. Fullish ball outside off, Hetmyer looks to drive at this one but he was nowhere near it. The ball moves away after pitching, it gets the thick outside edge of Hetmyer's bat and this time Rahane at third slip makes no mistake. Hetmyer, unlike Rahane cannot make the most of his dropped chance. West Indies 4 down and their wickets are falling like nine pins. 13/4
