After a top-order collapse that left Bengal reeling for 43 for four, Ganguly (110 batting) engaged himself with an undefeated 222-run fifth wicket partnership with Wriddhiman Saha (106 batting) as the hosts ended the day with 265 for four.
"It's job half-done, we have to play good cricket tomorrow. It was an important match for us and after the top-order failure, we needed some runs badly," Ganguly said.

After he was dropped in the first slip by Ankur Julka off left-arm spinner Vikas Mishra, Ganguly had a fluent unbeaten innings laced with two sixes and 11 boundaries.
Ganguly, who was seen catching up with India-Sri Lanka humdinger on TV after the match got over, also praised Virender Sehwag who hit 146 in India's victory.
