Ahmedabad:
After slumping to three successive defeats, Rajasthan Royals pocketed their first win of the Twenty20 event when they defeated the Knight Riders by 34 runs at Sardar Patel stadium in Motera.
"We had a strategy in mind. After the the first six overs, we decided to maintain a tight line and length and avoid giving much runs in the next three to four overs. Our plan worked as it had built up additional pressure," an elated Warne told reporters after the match.
"Today everything went according to plan and we were able to restrict Knight Riders. The team bowled really well today," he said.
He also showered praise on Rajasthan top-scorer Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, who scored valuable 45 runs for his side.
Warne, however, expressed concerns over the sweltering weather conditions prevalent during the match.
"Because of high temperature three or four of our players got cramps," he said.
Talking to reporters, Knight Riders coach Dav Whatmore said, "We played a little slow today which was the main reason for the defeat."
"Our run-rate was average today. We should have scored little more quick runs," Whatmore said.
"But there is no excuse for a loss.
"When you bat second it is always advantageous to have wickets in hands, but somehow despite having wickets we were not able to convert the situation into a win," he added.
