Warne can still play for another 3 years: Expert

At 42, Shane Warne is coming out of retirement to feature in the T20 Big Bash League, but the Australian spin legend looks fit enough to play Test cricket for at least another three years, feels a renowned sports science expert.

Warne had retired from all forms of cricket in May this year after the end of the fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) but University of Sydney's Dr Rene Ferdinands feels he still can bowl as good as in his playing days.

"He really didn't have a drop in performance when he retired, he decided to retire perhaps for other reasons other than form, and so he could have been still playing to this age," Dr. Ferdinands was quoted as saying by 'Fox Sports'.

"And just looking at him, I think he could even come back quite successfully now and still play Test cricket for at least another three years," he added.

Warne, who weighed between 84kg and 92kg in his prime, has now scaled down at 78kg.

The veteran leg-spinner, who has taken 708 Test wickets and 293 ODI scalps in his international career, will play for the Melbourne Stars at the MCG as part of the opening weekend of the T20 Big Bash League on Saturday.
