This season of the ISPL has been a rollercoaster ride for the Kolkata-based team ‘Tiigers of Kolkata'. This determined team has had an incredible journey in the inaugural tournament of the ISPL, losing two out of their five league-stage matches. However, the Tiigers managed to turn their season around, culminating in a thrilling final victory that saw them lift the ISPL trophy.
After losing their opening match, the Tiigers of Kolkata needed inspiration, and amidst their despair, Aksha Kamboj, team co-owner and chairperson of Aspect Global, came into the team's dressing room, refusing to admit defeat. With her words of encouragement, she reminded them that true winners are forged in the fire of adversity. Inspired by her words and determined to rise above their initial setback, the Tiigers prevailed and under the guidance of their inspirational owner, they honed their skills and won their second match, keeping them in the running for a spot in the semi-finals.
Captain Prathamesh Pawar of Tiigers of Kolkata, popularly labelled ‘Captain Cool' for his calm and composed demeanour throughout the tournament, added, “We have never known an owner who is so passionate and knows so much about cricket. With constant text messages to check up on us, motivating us, and studying the game; we felt supported and inspired throughout the match”.
It's no secret that the Tiigers came out stronger than ever after their victory. They may have lost their first match but their journey to victory is a testament to the indomitable human spirit, a spirit that rises from the ashes and triumphs against all odds. With their dramatic triumph in the final, one thing will always remain certain–they will forever remain a symbol of inspiration, resilience, and the power of human spirit in sport.
