Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their first win in four games against Kings XI Punjab.
Bangalore's eight-run win is their third in seven games in the second edition.
Kings XI Punjab have won 3 and lost 3 out of six contested in the 2009 edition.
Yuvraj Singh has produced his first hat-trick in the IPL. He became the fourth bowler to accomplish the feat, joining Lakshmipathy Balaji (Chennai), Amit Mishra (Delhi) and Makhaya Ntini (Chennai).
Yuvraj (50 off 34 balls) became the first all-rounder to post a fifty as well as register a hat-trick in the same match.
Yuvraj is the third all-rounder to register a fifty and claim three wickets in the same match. The first two were Shane Watson (vs.Delhi) and Yusuf Pathan (vs.Chennai) - both from Rajasthan in the first edition.
Yuvraj's bowling figures (3/22) are his second best in Twenty20. His previous best in the IPL were 2 for 12 against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on May 21, 2008.
Yuvraj registered his first fifty in the second edition of the IPL. He is averaging 29.20 in the 2009 edition - 146 in six innings.
Overall, Yuvraj's aforesaid innings is his second in the IPL in 20 games - 445 at an average of 24.72 at a strike rate of 153.44.
Piyush Chawla is the first fielder to take three catches in the 2009 edition.
Chawla became the fourth fielder to take three catches or more in the IPL. Sachin Tendulkar holds a record for taking four catches in an innings against Kolkata on May 16,2008. Two other fielders have taken three catches in an innings - Abhishek Nayar and Robin Uthappa.
Robin Uthappa has averaged only 9.50 - 57 in six innings at a strike rate of 81.42.
Jacques Kallis is the leading run-getter for Bangalore in the 2009 edition of the IPL - 151 in six innings at an average of 25.16 with just one fifty.
Abdulla (4/36) produced his second best IPL figures - his best being 4 for 31 against Bangalore at Durban on April 24, 2009.
Abdulla has an outstanding record in Twenty20, claiming 47 wickets in 32 games at an average of 15.02.
Abdulla, with 13 wickets in six games at 11.23, is the leading wicket-taker in the second edition of the IPL. The next three are: Malinga (11), Balaji (10) and Rudra Pratap Singh (10).
Van der Merwe (35) has registered his best innings in the IPL.
Merwe and Kohli put on 44 for the seventh wicket - Bangalore's best in the IPL, bettering the 31 between Rahul Dravid and Praveen Kumar at Cape Town on April 18,2009.
Yuvraj and Karan Goel put on 70 runs for the first wicket - Kings XI Punjab's best for the first wicket in the 2009 edition.
The aforesaid stand is Kings XI's best against Bangalore, bettering the 52 between Bopara and Goel at Kingsmead, Durban on April 24, 2009.
