Elections to appoint office bearers to the governing body Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will be held by January next year.
After meeting the SLC stake holder, Sports Minister Navin Dissanayake informed about the slated time for the elections, on Tuesday. (Also read: Ramanayke replaces Vaas as Sri Lanka's fast bowling coach)
The SLC affiliated clubs and district associations met Dissanayake to discuss the future of the game's administration in the light of Dissanayake's action to appoint an interim committee instead of holding an annual general meeting to appoint office bearers.
The former opening batsman Sidath Wettimuny headed interim committee was appointed in April by Dissanayake following a statement by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that high level of corruption in the game's administration needed a probe.
However the government decision was questioned by the ICC whose policy does not permit member nations to have politically appointed governing bodies.
Dissanayake visited the ICC last week to brief the governing body on the circumstances that led to the appointment of the interim committee.
