Birmingham:

S Sreesanth wants his Warwickshire stint to do what it did to Shaun Pollock -- turn him into an all-rounder.

The spunky Indian speedster, who shone both with the bat and ball in his County Championship debut against Nottinghamshire, said he would push himself to the limit to bring an all-round development to his game.

"It is a real test of character for me and a chance to hone my skills," said Sreesanth.

"That includes my batting skills because you get a lot of chances to bat in county cricket. When Shaun Pollock came to Edgbaston, he was a bowler; when he went back, he was an all-rounder," he told 'Sunday Mercury' newspaper.

"It will be good for me in a lot of ways and hopefully I can help the team win. This is a great chance for me to push myself to the limits, prove to myself that everything is fine," he said.

The temperamental pacer said he spoke to senior bowler Zaheer Khan before arriving here and was looking forward to working under Warwickshire bowling coach Allan Donald.

"For weeks, I was trying my best to get here. Now, I am looking forward to playing as many games as possible. I spoke to Zaheer Khan before I came over and he said it might be a slow start but when you get into it, it is really good fun," Sreesanth said.

"I want to play as much as I can. When you play for your country, you don't play much and there are a lot of gaps in between, so this is great for me. This is a good time to come because early in the year I would have been getting five-for and four-fors but now it's not going to be that easy. I am looking forward to an opportunity to work with Allan Donald, a living legend," he added.
