b Glenn Maxwell
34.5 OUT! PLAYED ON! Glenn Maxwell reaps rewards for some good bowling. This is bowled on a shortish length and angled into the stumps. Quinton de Kock tries to break the shackles and attempts the reverse sweep but gets himself in a real tangle. The ball goes off the face of the bat into his chest and back onto the stumps. The bails come off and de Kock has to depart after another brilliant ton. Maxwell has his second and Australia have their third. 197/3

Temba Bavuma C | 35 | 55 | 2 | 0 | 63.63 |
c David Warner b Glenn Maxwell
19.4 OUT! CAUGHT! The opening stand is broken and the luck finally runs out for Temba Bavuma! Glenn Maxwell switches to over the wicket for the right-hander and floats it up around off stump, turning it in. Bavuma gets down on one knee and stays deep looking for the slog-sweep with the turn but mistimes it. The ball comes more off the toe end and flies down to deep mid-wicket where David Warner takes a simple catch well inside the ropes. Bavuma departs after a scratchy knock and Maxwell picks up Australia's first wicket. 108/1

Rassie van der Dussen | 26 | 30 | 2 | 0 | 86.66 |
c sub Sean Abbott b Adam Zampa
28.3 OUT! TAKEN! Adam Zampa strikes for Australia and this is a big wicket! Rassie van der Dussen runs out of patience and he will be disappointed with his shot. Floats it up does Zampa, on middle, Rassie van der Dussen puts the dancing shoes and gets to the pitch of the delivery. Tries to clear the long on fence but fails to get the elevation and hits it flat and straight down the throat of the substitute fielder Sean Abbott who does the rest. A crucial wicket for Australia as van der Dussen was starting to change gears. 158/2

Aiden Markram | 56 | 44 | 7 | 1 | 127.27 |
c Josh Hazlewood b Pat Cummins
43.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Pat Cummins brings himself back into the attack and strikes straight away! Comes from over the wicket and rolls his fingers over the ball. Bangs it into the wicket, around middle, Aiden Markram backs away and opens the bat face to use the pace of the delivery but there isn't any pace on offer. Picks out Josh Hazlewood at backward point who completes the catch in front of his face. A much-needed breakthrough for Australia. 263/4

|||||
Heinrich Klaasen | 29 | 27 | 3 | 0 | 107.40 |
c Josh Inglis b Josh Hazlewood
44.1 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Josh Hazlewood gets into the act now and Australia are chipping away with wickets! Josh Hazlewood bends his back and goes into the wicket with a slower delivery, on middle, Heinrich Klaasen goes for the pull but swings early. Gets undone by the lack of pace nor does he manage to ride on top of the bounce. Gets an outside edge that is gobbled safely by Josh Inglis who times his jump correctly. South Africa have now lost both set batters. 267/5
|
|||||
David Miller | 17 | 13 | 1 | 1 | 130.76 |
b Mitchell Starc
49.4 OUT! TIMBER! Mitchell Starc knocks David Miller over and this is turning out to be a fantastic final over for Australia. Starc steams in, bends his back and bowls an inswinging yorker at around 144 clicks into middle and leg. Miller stays deep in his crease and tries to give himself a bit of room but the ball sneaks through and crashes into the stumps. 311/7
|
|||||
Marco Jansen | 26 | 22 | 3 | 1 | 118.18 |
c David Warner b Mitchell Starc
49.1 OUT! CAUGHT! This time it is taken! Mitchell Starc bowls it on a shorter length around middle, taking pace off it as well. Marco Jansen stays back and looks to pull but is late on it. The ball goes off the top edge and comes down toward mid on where David Warner takes a simple catch. Jansen departs after a handy cameo and Starc gets his first wicket of the game. 310/6

c Temba Bavuma b Marco Jansen
5.5 OUT! CAUGHT! More misery for Mitchell Marsh as Marco Jansen draws first blood for South Africa. Jansen gets his radar correct this time as he bowls it on a hard length around the top of off, angling it across. Marsh stands tall and looks to slog it across the line. Marsh loses his shape and ends up getting a leading edge high around mid off. The Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma settles himself underneath the ball and pouches it safely. 27/1
|
|||||
David Warner | 13 | 27 | 2 | 0 | 48.14 |
c Rassie van der Dussen b Lungi Ngidi
7 OUT! CAUGHT! Straight to the man and that is a very soft dismissal for David Warner. Lungi Ngidi bowls it a bit short and a bit wide, there to be put away. Warner stands tall and looks to slap it away square on the off side but gets no timing on it whatsoever. The ball goes uppishly and straight into the bread basket of Rassie van der Dussen at cover-point. The catch is held and it will be a wicket-maiden for Ngidi in his 50th ODI. Australia in early trouble here. 27/2
|
|||||
Steven Smith | 19 | 16 | 4 | 0 | 118.75 |
lbw b Kagiso Rabada
9.5 OUT! LBW! An appeal for LBW and only the bowler and keepers seem interested. Quinton de Kock is quite confident and Temba Bavuma does opt for the review here. Kagiso Rabada bowls it on a good length around middle and leg and angles it in. Steven Smith is late on the tuck and gets rapped on the pads. No need for UltraEdge and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Smith is stood there flabergasted but the Proteas rejoice as they get the big wicket via a review that was taken more in hope than in confidence. Australia are three down inside the first 10 overs. 50/3

|||||
Marnus Labuschagne | 46 | 74 | 3 | 0 | 62.16 |
c Temba Bavuma b Keshav Maharaj
34.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Keshav Maharaj strikes now and gets the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne! Gives the ball air and bowls it on middle and leg, Marnus Labuschagne puts the dancing shoes on and gives himself room to go inside out. He fails to get the elevation and hits it flat and straight to extra cover where Temba Bavuma gobbles it with both hands in front of his face. Australia have now lost their last recognized pair and South Africa are closing in on another big win now. 143/8
|
|||||
Josh Inglis Wk | 5 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 125 |
b Kagiso Rabada
11.1 OUT! BOWLED'EM! Peach of a delivery by Kagiso Rabada and Australia are in all sorts of trouble! Bowls it on the off stump line, on a good length, Josh Inglis gets his bat out in front and tries to defend with a straight bat. The ball angles in initially but straightens after pitching to beat Inglis on the outside edge. Pegs back the off stump and beats him all ends up. Kagiso Rabada has his second wicket and Australia are now four down. 56/4
|
|||||
Glenn Maxwell | 3 | 17 | 0 | 0 | 17.64 |
c & b Keshav Maharaj
16.1 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Keshav Maharaj joins in on the fun now for South Africa! Another soft dismissal and Australia have now lost half their side. Tosses it up, on the leg stump, Glenn Maxwell gets on the front foot and tries to clip it away on the leg side. He does not manage to smother the turn and pays the price. The ball dips on him and spins away enough to get a leading edge. The ball lobs straight back to Keshav Maharaj who completes the catch low to his left. Australia are in dire straits at the moment. 65/5
|
|||||
Marcus Stoinis | 5 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 125 |
c Quinton de Kock b Kagiso Rabada
17.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! A good decision to review by South Africa but it's a debatable decision by the third umpire! Kagiso Rabada is having a great night here as he has his third now. This is bowled into the wicket, around leg, Marcus Stoinis gets cramped for room and tries to get inside the line to get a late flick. There is a sound as the ball goes past the bat and the keeper dives full length to complete the catch. They appeal but the umpire turns down the appeal. South Africa go for the review, not with conviction. The UltraEdge shows a spike as the ball makes contact with the handle of the bat. The bottom hand though is off the handle and is not touching the top hand but the third umpire thinks differently. The decision is overturned. Stoinis is in complete disbelief. He stays in the middle for a while, confirming and reconfirming with the on-field umpires. The replays get rolled again, this time though to only check if the catch was cleanly taken by de Kock. It's done clinically and Marcus departs shaking his head. Definitely a contentious decision. Australia are down and nearing yet another big loss. Stoinis, in the dressing room, is still having a look at the footage. The more we get to see the replays, it becomes clear that the bottom hand was very much away from the top hand. 70/6

Mitchell Starc | 27 | 51 | 3 | 0 | 52.94 |
c Quinton de Kock b Marco Jansen
33.3 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! It's Marco Jansen who breaks the stand for South Africa! Bends his back this time and bangs it in short, closer to off, Mitchell Starc waits on the back foot and looks to run it fine down to third man. The ball rushes him and gets big on him as well. Gets a glove on it as he pokes at the delivery and Quinton de Kock moves well to his left to complete the catch over his head. Marco Jansen has his second and Australia are now 7 down. 139/7
|
|||||
Pat Cummins C | 22 | 21 | 4 | 0 | 104.76 |
c David Miller b Tabraiz Shamsi
40.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Tabraiz Shamsi has his first World Cup wicket and Pat Cummins' stay at the crease comes to an end. Tosses this one up nicely, full and around off, inviting the big shot. Cummins has not much to lose here and decides to thump it down the ground but doesn't quite get to the pitch of the ball. Cummins ends up lifting it down to long off where David Miller takes a safe catch. South Africa just a wicket away now from sealing the deal here. 175/9

c Kagiso Rabada b Tabraiz Shamsi
40.5 OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Tabraiz Shamsi wraps up the innings! Offers flight and bowls it full, on off, Josh Hazlewood gets down on one knee and goes for a slog across the line. Does not get the proper connection and skies it high in the air. The ball goes only as far as short mid-wicket where Kagiso Rabada settles under the skier and completes the catch comfortably. Australia have succumbed to another defeat. South Africa win by a massive margin of 134 runs! 177/10
