Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq will mentor Bangladesh spinners during the home series against New Zealand in October-November this year. Part of his 100-day contract with the side, Mushtaq had earlier travelled with the side on Zimbabwe's tour.
Bangladesh will play two Tests, three ODIs and a Twenty-20 international against the Kiwis and Mushtaq said he is excited about helping the team. "I look forward to joining the Bangladesh camp by the end of September. If not, (by) October 1 is a must," he was quoted as saying by the Dhaka Tribune.
Mushtaq's association with the Bangladesh cricket team dates back to 2012 when he had first joined as part of the coaching staff under the then coach Richard Plybus. He has since helped Bangladesh spinners with tips and tricks of spin bowling, playing a huge role in the rise of several youngsters including Sohag Gazi who had figures of 4 for 29 in his debut ODI against West Indies.
It is learnt that Mushtaq this month will be helping West Indies ' slow bowlers before joining Bangladesh for their international fixture against New Zealand.
