Tendulkar, who is the leading run-scorer in Tests and ODIs, is the only batsman in history to score 100 international centuries while McGrath is the second-highest wicket-taker for Australia in Tests, with 563 wickets in 124 Tests. Both these players had some epic duels in the past and it was a wonderful sight to see both these legends share their inputs with some of the youngsters. McGrath, who took over as the director of the MRF Pace Foundation in September 2012, encouraged the trainee fast bowlers to take tips on bowling, postures, pitch dynamics and body movements from Tendulkar.
Speaking on the occasion, McGrath said, "It is indeed an honor to have Tendulkar in the midst of us. It's exciting not only for the onlookers, but for ourselves as well for coming together to mentor the next generation of bowlers. Cricket is something which is very close to our hearts and I am confident that the trainees in the academy will work hard and excel in this sport."
Tendulkar also said that this initiative by the pace foundation in serving, spotting and promoting fast bowling talent was exceptional.
"It needs steadfast and deep commitment to stay the course and having done this for the last 27 years. I feel the MRF Pace Foundation is the platform for identifying potential talent that needs nurturing in India.
"It's a special privilege for these budding bowlers to be trained under the mentorship of McGrath, one of the ace pace blowers the game has seen. I wish the MRF Pace Foundation the very best as they continue to contribute in developing the cricketing talent in India."
