Sachin Tendulkar Makes Instagram Debut, Thanks all for Birthday Wishes

Sachin Tendulkar thanked his family, friends and fans for their wishes on his 42nd birthday this Friday. The legendary cricketer also made his debut on Instagram with a photo of him with son Arjun, daughter Sarah and wife Anjali. (Also read: Interesting facts about birthday boy Sachin Tendulkar)

Tendulkar posted the above photo on his account and said that he enjoyed having a birthday lunch with his family. The account had over 26 thousand followers - and increasing rapidly - in a little over an hour of being created. (Update: Tendulkar's account added 2100 more followers in five minutes of this report being filed).

The former cricketer received an overwhelming number of wishes with several current and former cricketers tweeting their messages for him. Even as the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma joined Anil Kumble in wishing Tendulkar on his birthday, the ex batsman opened his official account on Instagram - an immensely popular mobile photo and video sharing social platform.

He, however, did not forget to thank his fans on Twitter - a platform where he has over 9 million followers.

Tendulkar may have bid farewell to his playing days but he is currently in Mumbai with his former IPL franchise. The chief mentor of Mumbai Indians, he would be hoping his birthday brings good luck to the franchise which has won just one of their six IPL 2015 matches. Mumbai play Sunrisers Hyderabad in Saturday's first match.
