Ends up getting a faint inside edge and de Kock behind the stumps is alert. He gets low to his left and takes a fine catch. Good stuff from Philander. He brought some balls in and swung some away to catch the batsman off guard. You are always unsure when the bowler is bowling that way. Yet another failure for Lokesh Rahul in this series. 61.3 OUT! The least impressive of the bowlers has taken out the most prized wicket! Indecision costs Pujara. Outside off, pretty wide, Pujara is not sure whether he should play at that or leave it. He is across his stumps and pushes at the ball. Halfway through the shot, he realizes that the ball can be left alone. Now, he tries to withdraw his bat but his commitment to the earlier cause does not allow him to get the bat behind much. The ball moves just enough to take whatever piece of willow is available and goes to the keeper! End of a long vigil.  144/5

42.4 OUT! Kohli does not chase the previous one but he chases this one and is gone! AB de Villiers dropped him on the previous occasion but not this time. Full and wide outside off, could have been left alone, Kohli reaches out for that without moving his feet much and gets a thick outside edge. AB de Villiers at third slip is initially not sure to have his hands in reverse cup position or the bucket-like one and in the end, goes for the second choice. The decision has to be made in a split second as the ball travels really fast to him. Mr. 360 degrees takes that decision quickly, keeps his hands bucket-like and takes the catch. He then lands surprised on the ground, thanking his stars that he did not go reverse cup for that. End of a fine, fine knock from Kohli, taking the bull by the horns. The stand is broken at 84, still no triple digit partnership for India in this series. Ngidi's parents have a proud moment in the stands, applauding their kid's wicket. This is the first time they are watching a live cricket match. Great moment.  97/3

51.4 OUT! The decision stays as it is! Umpire's call! Hard, hard luck for Rahane. Only a small part of the ball is hitting the leg stump but that will do for South Africa. Good bowling by Morkel, getting this full after the previous short one and tailing it in. Rahane looks to flick but misses and is hit on the pads. Morkel appeals, umpire Ian Gould thinks for a while and then raises his finger! Rahane has a long chat with Pujara and then signals for the review. Hawk Eye shows the ball to be clipping the outer half of leg stump. The no ball life earlier does not count for Rahane. India do not lose a review though... if that can be called as a cloud with a silver lining...  113/4

62.2 OUT! Caught behind! That is a bad, bad shot. The ball was not the best, short and wide outside off, Patel leaps and tries to punch but is comfortably beaten by the extra bounce. Only manages a thick nick and that is gobbled by the keeper. Two quick wickets for South Africa.  144/6

63.2 OUT! Another one goes! India gifting wickets away. A short ball outside off, Pandya thinks he can get the better of the opposite all-rounder but the bowler gets the better of him. The bounce is steep and the pull only gets a top edge. It goes straight up in the air and Quinton de Kock does really well to run back, keep his eyes on the ball and eventually take a steepler. Second wicket for Phehlukwayo!  144/7

76.4 OUT! That's the final nail in the coffin! Short ball, angling in and climbing on Kumar. He gets into an awkward position and still goes through with his pull shot. 67.5 OUT! Gone this time! A shot too many for Shami. Landed outside off, Shami is in no mood to defend and just throws his bat at that. But his bottom hand comes off the willow and the ball goes off the toe end, high in the air. Simple catch to Kagiso Rabada at mid off.  163/8

72.1 OUT! The bowling change has paid dividends! Rabada steams in and attacks the stumps with a full ball. Sharma attempts to push it down the ground with zero footwork but gets an outside edge that flies towards second slip. Faf du Plessis stationed there dives in front and takes a smart catch. 12.3 OUT! Elgar's misery is put to an end! Top, top bowling from Kumar to get rid of the opener as he bags his second wicket. Bowls a length ball around leg stump and gets the ball to deviate away substantially after pitching. Elgar is caught in the crease as he attempts to deal with it gingerly but the ball takes the outside edge and flies behind. Patel dives to his left and takes a good catch. He went past Elgar's outside edge on numerous occasions and it was a matter of time before he came out on top. Good passage of play for India.  16/2

2.3 OUT! The strike bowler for India delivers! He is so good upfront and it is rarely that he disappoints. Runs in with good rhythm from over the wicket and bowls a back of a length ball around off. The ball shapes in after pitching as well. Markram hops and tries to defend it but gets a faint nick behind. Patel moves to his right and accepts it gleefully. Just the start India wanted.  3/1

30 OUT! A good hand from Rabada comes to an end! He is getting a warm applause from the crowd for his sheer resilience and a gutsy batting display. Short of a length ball on middle, some extra bounce is present and the ball also nips away. Rabada hops and tries to keep it out but can't do anything about it. Ends up getting a thick outside edge towards gully where Rahane takes a sharp catch. He is safe as a house in that region. The stand that proved to be frustrating for India has finally come to an end, 64 to be precise. Can they capitalize upon this?  80/3

59.5 OUT! Amla holes out! Good field placement from Kohli and India have got the big fish! With two fielders deep on the leg side, Bumrah opts to bowl this on a fuller length on middle. Amla goes for the flick but doesn't bother to keep it down. Pandya has been placed a bit up from the ropes. He runs to his right and takes an easy catch in the deep square leg region. A brilliant knock from Amla comes to an end and the handy 44-run stand is also cut short. South Africa trail by 18 runs.  169/7

36.4 OUT! Bowled 'em! A dream delivery from Kumar to get rid of the best batsman in the opposition. Fullish delivery outside off, swings in prodigiously as de Villiers attempts an expansive drive but leaves a big gap between his bat and pad. That proves to be his undoing. The ball goes through the gap, brushes his back leg and crashes into the stumps. A big breakthrough for India. AB is such a man who can take the game away from the opposition in the blink of an eye. He has been the best Indian bowler on display and has got the desired results as well. Bowling fuller lengths is the way to go on this surface. His teammates need to take a leaf out of his book.  92/4

41.4 OUT! Timber! India are right back into the contest. Poor judgement from du Plessis and he pays the price for it. He was having problems against the inward shaping deliveries and finally falls prey to one. Bumrah bowls this on a good length around off and extracts significant seam movement from the deck. Du Plessis points his bat skywards thinking that it won't come back enough but he is wrong. The ball brushes his back pad and deflects onto the stumps. The sound of the ball hitting the stumps is like music for a bowler. Bumrah gets his first. South Africa are suddenly looking jittery.  107/5

47.2 OUT! Bumrah on the charge! He has been consistent with his lines and lengths particularly in this spell and is reaping the rewards. Bowls a fuller length ball and it is going across the batsman initially. De Kock extends his arms and tries to hit it through the line but the ball swings back in to catch him off guard. Takes the inside edge of his bat and Patel behind the stumps accepts it gleefully. India are still ahead by 62 runs and need four more wickets to bowl the Proteas out.  125/6

62.2 OUT! Another one goes down! India closing in on the Proteas. Short ball this time, climbing on Philander. He is not in a good position to play the pull shot but he still goes through with it. Ends up getting a top edge that swirls in the sky towards fine leg. Bumrah in the deep remains ice cool. Moves to his right and a touch behind, judges it to perfection and takes a well-judged catch by getting low. Gets appreciation from the skipper for holding onto that. India still in front by 12 runs. It is a low margin but this track is such that every run is precious.  175/8

65.3 OUT! Crashing into the leg stump! Bumrah is bowling with a lot of authority at the moment and picks up a 4-wicket haul. Full toss on middle and leg, a bit of nibble in the air. Phehlukwayo swings at it but misses to get pinged on the pads. Bumrah roars in an appeal and up goes the umpire's finger. Andile has a chat with his partner and challenges the decision gingerly. The replay shows three reds to signal the marching orders for the batsman.  194/9

65.5 OUT! Maiden five-wicket haul for Bumrah in Tests! He has a beaming look on his face and is being congratulated by his teammates. Shortish ball down the leg side, Ngidi goes for the pull but gets a faint nick behind. Patel moves to his left and dives to take a fine catch. SOUTH AFRICA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 194!  194/10

40.5 OUT! Bowled 'em! Take the pitch out of the equation, any top batsman would have found it extremely difficult to answer that. Rabada raises his arms skywards and makes a roar. Gets a hug from his skipper. A pinpoint yorker on off, Vijay was not expecting that. He is late in bringing his bat down and as a result, a bottom edge is induced which goes onto crash into the stumps. However, the opener has done his job. Scoring 25 runs on this tricky track is worth in gold. THAT'S LUNCH ON DAY 3!  100/4

5 OUT! That is a stunning catch! Philander has eventually struck. He has been ordinary against Vijay but come the left-hander, Philander is gold. Bounces it on a length outside off, gets it to cut back in, Parthiv looks to flick but gets a thick inside edge onto his thighs which lobs towards gully. Aiden Markram dives in from that position and takes a stunner! Philander does not even bother to appeal while the Proteas appeal. Now Aleem Dar raises his finger. India are effectively 10/1.  17/1

19 OUT! There is the first wicket of the day in just the second over! Did that hit the crack? Don't think so. Nor was there any exaggerated movement. But because Philander can move the balls both ways, Rahul is not sure which way this one will move - in or out. Still, to be extremely critical, he could have left it alone on the line. It was certainly wide but he pushed at it. The ball then took the outside edge and went straight to Faf du Plessis at second slip who took it comfortably. India are effectively 44/2.  51/2

22 OUT! Pujara goes cheaply too! Boy, this was really unplayable. Morkel lands this on a crack outside off, Pujara is forced to play at it because of the angle but then, the ball bounces steeply and takes the outside edge. Pujara cannot do anything. Just fends at it and hands a simple catch to Faf du Plessis at second slip again. India in a spot of bother now.  57/3

49.2 OUT! Timber! Look at Rabada, he is absolutely pumped up. The sound of the ball hitting the stumps is like music for the bowler. Unplayable delivery really. A top, top confrontation from the skipper comes to an end. Good length ball outside off, hits the deck and seams in like a banana. Kohli prods forward to counter it but the ball goes right through the gap between his bat and pad, brushes his back leg and hits the off stump. The look on Kohli's face is of bewilderment. Needed to bowl a delivery like this to get rid of him as he was batting with a lot of authority. The Proteas are over the moon. Just shows that how much this breakthrough means to them. The skipper walks back in disappointment. Can prove to be a match-winning knock on this notorious surface. India are ahead by 127 and are quite strongly placed.  134/5

67.3 OUT! This time Rahane is indeed gone! Full and down the leg side, Rahane looks to flick but misses. There is another noise heard, Quinton de Kock dives to his left to catch and then appeals, the bowler joins in and this time, umpire Ian Gould raises his finger! Rahane does not bother challenging and when asked by Bhuvi, he nods, to the inside edge. The 55-run stand is broken and India are effectively 196/7!  203/7

53.1 OUT! A gem of a catch to get rid of the dangerous Pandya! Fuller length ball on off, Pandya goes for the drive on the up but doesn't quite get to the pitch of the ball. Ends up pushing it back towards Rabada. He stays cool as a cucumber in his followthrough and takes a right-handed stunner. However, he loses his cool and fires a throw that goes past Pandya. He apologizes to the batsman instantly after doing that. Aleem Dar has a chat with him regarding that. That was a poor gesture from the young quickie. Needs to be careful. Meanwhile, Rabada's father in the dressing room is happy with the dismissal and is all smiles!  148/6

77.2 OUT! Caught behind! Bhuvi misses his half century but what a knock by him. He has played 76 balls for his 33, which means a good hour. Keeping the South Africans on the field. This was unplayable, at least for a lower order batsman. Morkel comes in from around the wicket and bangs in a short one, around middle. Kumar has to play at that but is unable to adjust to the bounce. Only manages to edge it behind to the keeper. Fantastic innings. India inching closer to 250 - effectively 233/9.  240/9

74.4 OUT! Caught! Ahem... they say, never run on a misfield, don't they? Well, if Shami had not run on that previous misfield, he would not have been on strike! Anyways. A short ball around off, Shami pulls it comfortably but it is straight to AB de Villiers at deep square leg! End of an entertaining knock - 27 from 28 balls, with 1 four and 2 sixes. Another priceless stand for India - 35 from 43 balls.  238/8

80.1 OUT! SA NEED 241 TO WIN. It just needed one delivery with the second new cherry to dismantle the last wicket stand. Landed outside off, almost like a loosener, 125 kph, Bumrah backs away a touch and looks to drag it to the leg side but he gets a top edge. The ball goes straight up in the air and Kagiso Rabada calmly takes it at mid on. Three wickets for Philander too.  247/10

2 OUT! India are on the attack! What a delivery to get rid of the right-hander. He steams in from over the wicket and bowls a short of a length ball around off. Probably hits one of the cracks and moves away significantly. Markram could have left it alone but the variable nature of the pitch makes him fish at it. Ends up getting a nick behind. It is traveling at a fast pace. Patel moves to his right, leaps in the air and takes a stunning catch. He is fired up and so is Shami. Seems like the pep talk from Ravi Shastri has rubbed off on the quickie. South Africa look jittery.  5/1
