Former Australian cricketer Rodney Marsh will deliver the 2015 MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture at the Lord's on September 1.
Marsh will become the fourth Australian to give the speech after Simon Taufel (2013), Adam Gilchrist (2009) and Richie Benaud - who gave the inaugural Cowdrey Lecture in 2001.
Marsh, who is Australia's chief selector, is also a part of the MCC World Cricket committee alongside Kumar Sangakkara, who delivered the Cowdrey Lecture in 2011.
"After Marsh's address, a question and answer session with him and a selected panel will tackle topics arising from the Lecture and other issues prevalent in world cricket," according to an MCC release.
Other previous MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecturers have included Sunil Gavaskar in 2003, the Most Reverend Desmond Tutu in 2008, and Sir Ian Botham in 2014.
Rod Marsh played 96 Tests and 92 One Day Internationals for Australia during a fourteen-year career
MCC President David Morgan said,"Rod Marsh is a popular and well-respected man in cricket and it is a pleasure to announce him as this year's MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecturer. This is an extremely important date for MCC and I have no doubt Rod will have some very interesting things to say about our ever-evolving sport."
