The Pakistan Cricket Board has turned down requests for No Objection Certificate from senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi to participate in the Global T20 League.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not in favour of issuing NOCs to players because of the hectic schedule that lies ahead of them.
Some sections of fans, along with former Pakistan cricketers including Wasim Akram, Kamran Akmal and many more stars, have been critical of the fitness of the Pakistan players.
The expected meeting is being held in light of the recent criticism by some sections of fans and former Pakistan cricketers on the Men in Green's performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.
In a video that has rapidly gone viral, Rizwan and Iftikhar are being beaten by pace and bounce multiple times by Pakistan net bowler Nouman Khan Khaira.
Babar and the rest of the Pakistan team were heavily criticised by former players, experts and fans as Pakistan crashed out of the 2024 T20 World Cup after the group stage.
The former Pakistan skipper suggested that Babar Azam made a huge mistake by accepting the captaincy offer from PCB, especially after he himself resigned from the position last year.
Amid criticism of the team, a video went viral on social media, where a few Pakistan players were seen doing catching drills.
According to a source, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi wants to avoid a confrontation with senior players.
"The PCB is not comfortable with the status of the Global League," said a PCB official.
