Players innocent until proven guilty: Butt to NDTV

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ijaz Butt, who is in the city spoke exclusively to NDTV and said that "the players are innocent unless proven guilty".

He further said that it was wrong on part of the British Police to search the Pakistani players' room without their permission and rubbished all reports of Mohammad Amir turning informant by caling the rumours baseless.

He said that there cannot be different standards for Mohammad Amir and everyone will be given fair treatment.

Butt had met ICC chief Sharad Pawar earlier in the day and the two spoke about the issue of match fixing involving Pakistani players in England at length.

After the meeting Butt told NDTV that he was didn't agree with the comments made by Pakistan's High Commissioner to Britain Wajid Hasan about the suspension of the three players by ICC and further reiterated the fact that he did not see an Indian bias in the entire issue.

Talking about Indo-Pak cricket, the administrator expressed hope that the cricketing ties between the neighbours shall resume soon.

He although evaded any questions on why the PCB took no action against the players and decined to give any comments on it.
