Sarfraz Ahmed's century went in vain as Joe Root's magnificent 89 helped England achieve a four-wicket win over Pakistan in the second ODI at Lord's. Root was ably assisted by captain Eoin Morgan's 68 and the 112-run partnership proved to be decisive as England extended their lead to 2-0 in the five-match ODI series. The English attack was impressive once again and they bowled with intelligence and wit. Mark Wood and Chris Woakes were highly efficient with the ball and put brakes on the Pakistani batsmen. Imad Wasim played a gritty knock of 63 runs lower down the order and was instrumental in handing Pakistan a total that they can work with. It is a good batting track and the English batsmen will fancy themselves to overhaul the target. Pakistan have managed to pile up a competitive total of 251 runs after a disastrous start which had them reeling at three for two runs on the board. Babar Azam and Sarfraz Ahmed applied themselves well and stitched together a crucial partnership and bailed Pakistan out of trouble. Ahmed was the star for the Men in Green as he scored a wonderful century! He handled the English seamers with guile and scored against the spinners with authority. He was also involved in a couple of crucial partnerships with Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim which set the tone for a decent score.
OUT! Amir digs the yorker out and Wasim is charging down from the non-striker's end to get back the strike. Amir is hesitant and Woakes realizes that he can flick off the bails at the non-striker's end which he does and Amir is run out. Pakistan get bowled out for 251!
Wide! Another slower ball but it is misdirected way outside off. Wide signalled by the umpire!
FOUR! Fullish delivery outside off, Amir does enough to lift it over the leaping fielder at mid off and the ball races to the boundary!
Back of the hand slower delivery outside off stump, Amir tries to drill it down the ground but has no clue about where the ball is heading to.
Length ball on middle and leg, Amir has no room to work with and only manages to defend it.
Low full toss, Wasim drives it to deep cover for a single.
Angled into the pads, Amir glances it craftily down to fine leg for a couple!
