Hasan Ali with a short-of-a-length delivery, outside off, shaping away. Steven Smith goes for a back foot punch but the ball nicks off the outside edge and flies to Faheem Ashraf at second slip. Good reflexes from him as he takes it with his left hand diving that side. He grabbed it inches from the ground but the umpire wants to be sure and he takes it upstairs. Offers some width and Mitchell Starc leans onto it and tries to go over covers. Doesn't time it that well and Azhar Ali at covers takes a simple catch.  505/9

13.2 OUT! RUN OUT! Australia have their early breakthrough! There was never a single there! Mitchell Swepson with a brilliant throw! He may not have got a wicket in his first over, but he helps Australia provide their first wicket! A fuller ball, spinning away, around the pads. Imam-ul-Haq leans to defend, but the goes off the outside edge towards short third man. Imam-ul-Haq looks at Abdullah Shafique who has left his crease for a single and he too leaves his crease. Mitchell Swepson runs to his right, grabs the ball with his right hand, and throws it directly on the stumps at the keeper's end. The replay shows that Abdullah Shafique is no where near the crease and he has to walk back!  26/1

20 OUT! CAUGHT! Oh, dear! Pakistan are throwing it away here! This was an unnecessary shot by Imam-ul-Haq! Nathan Lyon tosses it up just a tad, fuller ball, around middle. Imam-ul-Haq dances down the track and tries to heave it over mid on, but he does so with the inner half of his bat. The ball lobs up and goes to Pat Cummins at mid on, who hops a bit and pouches the ball near his head. Pakistan have lost both their openers now!  45/2

25.4 OUT! TAKEN! Pakistan lose another wicket. The plan has worked for Mitchell Starc and Australia! Starc goes back to bowling full and outside off, inviting the batter to drive. Azhar Ali does go after it. He got beaten a couple of times but this time he perishes. Goes chasing after a wide ball and invites a thick outside edge. The ball flies to Cameron Green at second slip and he takes a good sharp catch. Pakistan are in a spot of bother now! They have lost their top three batters.  60/3

46.1 OUT! TAKEN! Mitchell Swepson bags his maiden Test wicket and it is of Babar Azam. He will remember this for a long time. Great captaincy from Pat Cummins. He brings Mitchell Swepson back into the attack and he doesn't disappoint. Babar Azam runs out of patience and comes charging down the track to his flighted delivery, on off. He looks to go over long off but miscues it and the ball goes up high in the air. Usman Khawaja settles himself under it nicely and snaffles it up. Babar Azam played a lone battle and has to walk back as well.  118/9

25.5 OUT! LBW! This is Mitchell Starc at his best! Comes over the wicket for the southpaw and bowls a sensational toe-crushing yorker, on middle, with a hint of inward movement. Fawad Alam has an unusual stance and he finds it tough to jam it out. He tries to block but misses and gets thudded on the pads. A huge shout from Australia and the umpire agrees and shows his dreaded finger. Fawad Alam does opt for a review after having a chat with Babar Azam. UltraEgde shows nothing and Ball Tracking shows three reds. Fawad Alam walks back for a golden duck and Mitchell Starc is on a hat-trick now. Australia are all over Pakistan at the moment.  60/4

Cameron Green comes 'round the wicket, serves a length ball, angling in around middle and leg. Faheem Ashraf looks to flick this, but he misses as the ball tails back in sharply. He gets rapped on his front pad and the Australian's appeal immediately. The umpire raises his finger. He did consult Babar Azam for review, but he decided against it. Mitchell Starc has his third wicket, and Pakistan have lost their 7th wicket now. Beautiful ball by Mitchell Starc! This one lands on a length, shapes away a tad, outside off. Sajid Khan stays in his crease and looks to defend this, but he manages to get a slight edge towards the keeper. A little bit of confusion from the batters whether to take the single or not. Babar Azam runs a few steps and sees Hasan Ali was ready for the single so he takes off. Marnus Labuschagne at covers has ample time to score a direct hit. Very quick pickup from him and he hits the bullseye at the keeper's end. No third umpire is needed for this one and Australia again start a session with an early wicket.  102/8

53 OUT! LBW! That's it! Mitchell Swepson grabs his second wicket on debut and wraps things off! A loopy ball, much slower through the air, spins in just a tad. Shaheen Afridi gets down on his knee and looks to sweep this but he misses it completely and gets rapped on his front pad. A huge appeal for LBW, and the umpire raises his finger! Shaheen Afridi opts for a review immediately! The replay rolls in. No bat involved confirms UltraEdge. Ball Tracker shows it is the umpire's call on wickets hitting. David Warner hangs back, opens the face of the bat tries to slice it in the gap between slips and gully. That was not off the edge, but unfortunately, he picks up Fawad Alam at gully, who takes a sharp catch.  20/1

109 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Pat Cummins goes wide of the crease again and angles it on a nagging length, from outside off. Abdullah Shafique is enticed into playing the cover dfrive but it just isn't full enough to drive. Shafique ends up playing a bit away from the body and gets a thick outside edge towards first slip. Steven Smith over there takes a sharp catch and Australia have the breakthrough they so desperately needed and it's the skipper who has stepped up. Heartbreak for Shafique though as he departs for 96 well made runs.  249/3

5.5 OUT! THREE REDS! Australia have their first! That is as plumb as it gets. A waste of a review. This is flatter and on middle, Imam looks to defend by coming forward but does so for the turn. This one goes on with the angle and hits him on the front pad. An appeal and the finger is raised. Imam reviews after a chat with his partner but to no avail. Early strike, just what the Aussies wanted.  2/1

22.2 OUT! LBW! That is unplayable! Green himself can't believe he has a wicket that way. What a move to begin with Green as he strikes on just his second ball. He bangs it shorter in length. Ali looks to duck under it, this one just does not bounce at all. It hits Ali near the thigh pad. An appeal and the finger is raised. Both the batters are having a discussion but time runs out. Perfect start for the Aussies. Ultra Edge shows a spike as it passed the glove. Not sure why the review was not taken there. Ali is such a big wicket, really not good from Pakistan, they wasted a review earlier on when it seemed dead out, this time, there were quite a few doubts but the review was not taken. Wondering how Ali did not realise he did not get glove on it, maybe he was just in shock of how low the ball kept there.  21/2

159.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Nathan Lyon gets the better of Babar Azam! A high-class innings comes to an end. Babar Azam walks off with just 4 runs short of his double ton. Would have been an elusive double hundred but wasn't to be. Heartbreak for him, heartbreak for the fans and the Karachi crowd is stunned. They are up on their feet and give him a huge applause which he deserves. Coming to the ball, it was a loopy delivery from Lyon, on off. Babar Azam pressed forward and tried to defend. Got an inside edge onto the pad and the ball lobbed in the air towards short leg where Marnus Labuschagne took it with both hands. Is that the opening Australia were looking for? If Babar Azam is leading from the front for Pakistan, Pat Cummins is not hanging back. He gets the breakthrough once again. Good-length ball, angled into off and just holding its line. Fawad Alam has a poke at it and this time the ball kisses the outside edge. Alex Carey behind the stumps makes no mistake and the Aussie players are pumped up.  277/4

Lyon drifts it into the pads, the ball turns away a bit after pitching. Faheem Ashraf looks to defend it with an angled bat and the ball goes off the outside edge towards first slip. This match has just got way too interesting in the last few minutes and it's the visitors who are firmly in control now. Lyon pushes it through quicker and around off.
