About National Stadium, Karachi

One of the oldest of Pakistan’s existing Test venues, the Gaddafi Stadium at Lahore has for long served as a fortress for Pakistan; safeguarding Pakistan’s home records in Test cricket. On the map of international cricket since 1955, the National Stadium in Karachi, has been a venue visiting teams have generally preferred to skip, thanks to disturbances around the city due to terrorism and bombings making headlines. Host to the 1996 World Cup Quarter Final match between West Indies and South Africa, One Day Internationals played at the National Stadium have generally been well attended. Test matches though, like it has generally been with the sub-continent, have had sparse crowds. It was also at the National Stadium that India wrapped up a bilateral series win in 2006 – the first time they an ODI series in Pakistan.
