Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) governing body elections will be held on time so as not to have any friction with the ICC's laid down procedures, chief of the interim committee Sidath Wettimuny said on Tuesday.
Responding to a reported ultimatum from the ICC that elections must take place by October, Wettimuny said his committee hopes to clarify the practical issues faced by the interim committee which compels to delay the election till January.

ICC had taken exception to the decision to politically appoint a governing body rather than holding an election.
The Wettimuny committee was appointed late March after the government claimed it wanted to probe alleged misdeeds of past SLC administrations.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the SLC owed large sums of money to state institutions.
Commenting on the ICC decision to allow Sri Lanka only observer status at the last council meeting, Wettimuny said the island nation was only deprived of the right to vote.
