Virat Kohli Gives an Insight on his Simple 'Partnership' With Anushka Sharma
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma prefer to keep their relationship simple. When away from prying eyes and the limelight, they discuss each other's profession, appreciate the effort involved but also can switch off from work when they feel like it.
Being a superstar cricketer can take its toll. Dating a glamorous and celebrated actress can further compound the strain. For Virat Kohli though, his 'partnership' with Anushka Sharma is based on understanding and being themselves - two factors that have helped both excel in their respective fields. Kohli has long been seen as an immensely talented - even if temperamental - cricketer. At 26, he now has the added responsibility of captaining the India's Test team. Life off the field is hardly simpler with every move with girlfriend Anushka being watched closely by millions of fans. When together though, they like to keep things simple. "I can be myself around her. What you do away from the cricket field matters more than what you do during the game," Kohli told ESPNcricinfo in an interview. "During the game you are absolutely focused on the game. (After a match) You need to switch off. You need to get away from it. And that is the best way to do it - when you have someone who can give you that emotional support."
Since they began dating, Kohli and Anushka have begun understanding each other's professions a lot better than before. This includes, reveals Kohli, the struggles as well, "I have started to understand and speak to her about her profession, her work," said the 26-year-old. "It looks like an amazing piece of entertainment for two and a half to three hours in the end, but to make a film it takes ages. And that is the most amazing thing I found about her profession."
And it is not just Kohli who has taken a keen interest in cinema. Anushka too is an avid learner of cricket.
"She has not followed cricket before she met me, but now she is very interested in knowing and learning about the game. We do talk a little bit, but the best part is, she does not force me to talk about cricket," said Kohli.
