Gautam Gambhir thinks there is nothing wrong in MS Dhoni asking for a turning track, but he also reiterates that the team should acknowledge the opposition's game, rather than criticising their own.
"The wicket should depend on the captain's demand," says Gambhir, when asked whether it's right for Dhoni to want a turner. "(And) We all should support him. We always agree that the captain should get the wicket he needs. There is nothing wrong it in, and we should not make it an issue."
But Gambhir doesn't believe in blaming the boys for any loss. "Ultimately, we should praise the opposition rather than criticise our own players," he says. "(We must remember) We were the No.1 Test team in the world."
Gambhir was also all praises about Ricky Ponting and acknowledged the great player's achievements. "He has been the most successful captain," Gambhir said speaking about the Aussie great.
When asked if it was time Sachin Tendulkar also to call it a day, Gambhir said that the master knows when he will retire. "He is going by his terms and no one is forcing him," he said.
"We should not pressurise Sachin because he is contributing a lot to cricket. He has achieved everything and is (still) a great player," he added.
