Rohit Sharma, captain of the Mumbai Indians, took to Twitter to share a series of pictures of his wife Ritika, daughter Samaira and mother Purnima to extend his wishes on the occasion of Mother's Day. Along with the pictures, Rohit wrote an adorable message to reveal what makes a mother "special". "First shoulder to rest, first shoulder to climb on and celebrate, or first shoulder to cry unconditionally a Mother is always there.. through ups & down," Rohit captioned the pictures on Instagram.Â
"Whether you are crossing the finish line as a champ or last, she will always be there. Applauding your efforts. That's what makes her special! Happy mother's day," he added.
Rohit was in Delhi with the Mumbai Indians for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) before several Covid cases within the bio-secure bubble forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL Governing Council to postpone the T20 tournament indefinitely.
Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians were fourth on the points table before the tournament had to be postponed amid rising Covid cases inside the bio-bubble.
On Friday, Rohit Sharma was named in the Test squad for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand and the subsequent five-match series against England.Â
The WTC final is scheduled to be played in Southampton from June 18 to June 22 with June 23 to be kept as a reserve day.
