Karachi:
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ijaz Butt told the media on Tuesday that Miandad has agreed to be batting consultant and help out the players in the camp.
"But he will let us know in a few days time if he is going to New Zealand with the team as well," Butt said.
The former captain has been told by the board to work as batting consultant with the team in the camp and on the tour but the former batting great is not willing to accept some conditions of the board.
His primary grouse is that he will not work under the supervision of head coach Waqar Younis and will not be answerable to him.
"I am always ready to help the Pakistan team in any way because Pakistan cricket has given me a lot," Miandad said.
"I will be working with the players in the camp to ready them for the New Zealand tour but because of my commitment I have to still decide if I can accompany them on the tour," he said.
Sources said that Ijaz Butt had spoken to Miandad and tried to convince him that he would have the freedom of working independently on the players but as a matter of system he had to work under the head coach.
"Miandad is not willing to accept this condition as he says that Waqar is much junior to him and has played under his captaincy and he (Miandad) would only be answerable directly to the Chairman for his work," one source said.
