Martin Guptill has been ruled out of the New Zealand team for the tour of Bangladesh in October due to finger and ankle injuries.

Guptill fractured a bone in his right little finger while batting in the Caribbean Premier League recently. After he returned to New Zealand, specialists advised Guptill that he will not require surgery but the finger needed to be immobilised with a splint. A full recovery was expected within three to five weeks.

Considering the recovery period required after the surgery, Guptill's return won't be possible till the New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka in November.

The Test squad for Bangladesh will be named on Friday (September 6) in Auckland.
