Chasing a target of 153 runs, the hosts made light of a 30-minute delay due to a wet outfield to race to victory in 26.3 overs.
Pakistan had won the first Test in Galle by 10 wickets. The third and decisive match starts in Pallekele on Friday.

Sri Lanka had a game plan, they sent Vithanage up the order and he didn't disappoint them. He scored a quickfire 34 in no time. However spinners from both the ends took two wickets in two balls and brought Pakistan back in the game. Karunaratne kept his calm and scored a vital fifty while skipper Mathews played a matured innings and guided his team home. In the end, Sri Lanka managed to chase down the target in the first session itself.
Credit goes to Dhammika Prasad who struck at important junctures of the match. He didn't get a 5-wicket haul but how beautifully he bowled? Third innings of the match and a spinner bagged just one wicket. He did all the damage and Pakistan only managed to set a target of 153 runs for the hosts. The entire last session on day 4 was washed out due to rain and it was a threat this morning as well.
Sri Lanka have fought back hard here against Pakistan and along with rain. After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Pakistan could only post a paltry, 138 on the board. Tharindu Kaushal picked a five-fer and got his team into a strong position on day 1 itself. Sri Lanka when came out to bat they took a good lead of 177 runs and Azhar Ali's reply with a century helped Pakistan put up a fight.
Sri Lanka are back in the series with this 7-wicket win. Crowd erupts in joy as the home side broke the jinx after three straight losses at this venue.
