Steven Smith said that they were pretty good with the bat and it was a good game overall for them. When asked about Maxwell he said that Maxwell's not about only reverse sweeps. He said that Maxwell has the cover drive, cut shots too in his repertoire. They would look to bat first if given a choice now that the series is pocketed. He reckoned that the surface at Canberra would be similar. On being asked about whether any areas of concern existed, he said that there was still room for improvement in all departments. The hosts lost Finch relatively early but then Smith, Shaun Marsh and Bailey kept the chase under control. However, India bounced back with some few wickets in the middle overs. When Wade fell in the 39th over, with 81 needed from 71 balls, it was game on. But Maxwell and Faulkner, the two finishers, added a match-winning 80 from 63 balls, to coolly steer Australia home.

Australia win, and take unassailable lead. India, one has to say, were again let down by their bowling. The Aussie batsmen were let off the hook at the beginning. It seemed as if the run chase would end in a canter.
