Durban:

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Anil Kumble described Thursday's win against Chennai Super Kings as "important" for his side, crediting it to Ross Taylor and a superb catching effort.

"It was so important, it was fantastic effort. Our catching was brilliant," Kumble said after snapping Chennai's five-match winning streak by defeating them by two wickets. "In the end, Taylor did it for us," he added.

Kumble said the team executed their plan barring a few things.

"We wanted to get Haydos (Matthew Hayden) early but that did not happen. Still overall our plan was successful," he said.

The veteran leg-spinner would not get carried away by the win as he said "he would like to take one game at a time". Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed his team's laid-back fielding for breaking their winning streak in the IPL.

"Our fielding has been suspect in the tournament so far. You have to be fast and agile in the field. We have been a safe fielding side but not a brilliant one," Dhoni said.

The Chennai skipper felt an extra 20 runs could have helped the team's cause and said if he had played patiently that would have been possible.

"We were 20 runs short of what we have got," he said adding that "we could have just rotated the strike instead of getting out early. This is a good learning for batsmen that it's (T20) not just about hitting sixes but applying yourself in crucial situations".

Dhoni also felt Kingsmead was not a happy hunting ground for his team.

"Durban has not been the best of grounds for us," he said.
