Brilliant bowling by Shabhaz Nadeem (4/6) helped Jharkhand beat Gujarat by 159 runs and lift the coveted Vijay Hazare Trophy here at the Holkar stadium on Tuesday.
Jharkhand skipper Saurabh Tiwary won the toss and opted to bat first, making 255/8. In reply, Gujarat were bowled out for 96 runs.
They reached the competitive total despite losing their top three batsmen with 80 runs on the board.
Ishank Jaggi and Deobrat Singh batted brilliantly to bail their team out. Kumar scored a classic 52 in 69 balls with a boundary and a six.
Jaggi completed his half century and was run out on 58 which he scored in 86 balls with two boundaries.
While defending, Jharkhand bowlers ran through Gujarat's batting line up and bundled them out cheaply.
Manpreet Juneja and Neeraj Patel batted well, and took the Gujarat score to 74. After the fall of Juneja, Gujarat innings collapsed and they were bundled out for 96 runs.
Shahbaaz Nadeem took four wickets for just six runs.
Neeraj Patel batted well but could not get any support from his teammates. He scored an unbeaten 46.
