Jharkhand beat Tripura by 34 runs in Vijay Hazare

Former champions Jharkhand defeated Tripura by 34 runs to begin their East Zone leg of the Vijay Hazare Trophy One-Day Championship campaign on a high at the Jadavpur ground in Kolkata on Saturday.
Put into bat, Jharkhand witnessed a jittery start but Ishank Jaggi struck a fluent 84 (102 balls, 10x4) and recovered the innings to 111 for two before being bundled out for 232 in 48.3 overs.
Tripura never showed intent to chase down the target as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals before being bowled out for 198 in 48.2 overs.
Subroto Ghosh, Jaskaran Singh and Shahbaz Nadeem picked up three wickets apiece for Jharkhand.
Earlier, the talented Jaggi put up a valiant fight putting on 101-run for the second wicket with Subroto Ghosh (33).
But the Jharkhand middle-order could not capitalise on the start as they failed bat the entire stipulated 50 overs. Manisankar Murasingh (4/60) was the wrecker-in-chief for Tripura, while Timir Chanda and Udit Patel claimed two wickets each.
