IPL: Organisers sell 40,000 tickets online for UAE matches

The first leg of the IPL will be held in the UAE from April 16-30. The opening game is between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Indian Premer League organisers on Saturday claimed that they had sold close to 40,000 tickets online in three days for the first leg of the Twenty20 league, beginning on April 16.

"This is a remarkable start. The sale of tickets off the field will be complemented by some exhilarating cricket on the field, in the fifteen days from 16 April 2014 to 30 April 2014," said Ranjib Biswal, Chairman of the IPL Governing Council.

The Indian leg of the IPL will be helf from May 2 to June 1. Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings will clash in the leg's opening game. (Full schedule announced)
