India vs SL: Fans line up for tickets

Nagpur: There may not be as much hype as there was for the Pakistan series but tickets for the Sri Lanka series are also a premium. While the ticket sales are on the rise, different state associations have different schemes and different strategies - this time for better distribution and more revenue.Vidarbha Cricket AssociationThe Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) has got the first one-dayer between India and Sri Lanka insured for Rs 2.3 crores to United India Insurance. But even if a single ball is bowled and then the match is abandoned VCA will not get any money. "This was the need of the hour," said Rajan Naayar, VCA. But if the match is abandoned, the VCA will get the money and then they might just pay back the fans, the cost of their ticket. This however is not the first time that a cricket match in India has been insured. The Indo-Pak clash in Ahmedabad, earlier this year was also insured due to political threats. JaipurBut there are no such threats in Jaipur with Vasundara Raje Scindia leading by example. The idea in Jaipur is to sell more tickets than to gift them away as complementary ones. The Rajasthan Chief Minister bought the first ticket for Rs 18,000 to start off the sales for the third one-dayer at the Swai Man Singh stadium. Only limited passes will be issued which will be to maintain the CM's protocol. Jaipur will be hosting an international one-dayer after six years and the ticket sales have been reported to be brisk for the 26,000 capacity stadium.MohaliIn Mohali, on the other hand, fans are flocking for a ticket to see India play in the second one-dayer of the series. Despite, the internal fight in the BCCI and the captaincy debacle, spirits are high. And unlike the Pakistan series, this time request from the VIPS will be turned down and more tickets will be available for the fans at large and as expected even the organisers are reaping its benefits. For the fans, the seven-match one-day series vs Sri Lanka is a crucial test for Indian cricket as the men in blue try to leave behind the Chappell-Ganguly fiasco.
