India have won the toss and opted to field. The toss took place at 1:30 PM IST, and it was Indian captain Ayush Mhatre who won the flip of the coin. The match will start at 2:00 PM IST (10:30 AM local).

According to reports by Cricbuzz, there is a significant wet patch on the outfield at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. A lot of sawdust is being applied to fix the issue. The umpires are out for another inspection, but seems like the delay will be a little longer.

There will be an inspection at 9:45 AM local time (1:15 PM IST), according to reports by Cricbuzz. The umpires have already had a chat with both captains. Wet patches across the outfield continue to be the issue, and supersoppers are at work.

New Zealand, fortunately or unfortunately, have not been able to play a single full game so far in the ongoing U19 World Cup. They have 2 points from 2 games (1 for each no-result). It has been good enough to ensure them qualification, but their players would be hoping to get some action today.

The India and New Zealand players are warming up, and the rain has stopped. The main reason for concern is a prominent wet patch on the outfield, with groundstaff hard at work to sort it out. Sawdust is being applied to solve the issue.

So far, both matches of India U19 and New Zealand U19 have been impacted by rain. Looks like the story is the same again. It is an aspect that has marred an otherwise fantastic U19 World Cup in Zimbabwe.

India captain Ayush Mhatre has undergone a barren spell in U19 colours for a while now. Mhatre did not enjoy the best U19 Asia Cup with the bat, and he has managed just 25 runs in his two matches at the U19 World Cup so far. The pressure is firmly on him, and he'll be hoping to score big today and find some rhythm before the Super 6 stage.

India looked down and out, and all set to suffer defeat against Bangladesh, in their second group game 7 days ago. But in a rain-affected match, part-timer Vihaan Malhotra scalped 4 wickets with the ball as Bangladesh faltered in a seemingly simple run chase, ultimately handing India victory by 18 runs.

Both India U19 and New Zealand U19 are already through to the Super 6 stage of the tournament. As a result, this group match holds added importance, as both teams will carry forward their points and net-run-rate (NRR) to the Super 6 group.
