India will fight hard to salvage some pride in the 4th Test at The Oval after losing the previous 3 Tests and consequently the series against England. Here's a look at the milestones that could be achieved in this Test.
# Mahendra Singh Dhoni (196 - 171 catches + 25 stumpings in 60 Tests) needs three dismissals to overtake Syed Kirmani's tally of 198 dismissals in 88 Tests.
# Dhoni, in case of four dismissals, would become the first Indian and the 13th player in Test annals to complete 200 dismissals.
# Dhoni is all set to become the first Indian wicketkeeper to complete the double of 3000 runs and 200 dismissals in Tests.
# Mark Boucher holds a world record. He is the only wicketkeeper to effect 500 dismissals or more in Tests - 521 in 139 Tests.
# If Sachin finally gets a century, it'll not only be his 100th international hundred but also 30th ton overseas, becoming the first player to achieve the feat.
# Andrew Strauss, in case of a win at The Oval, would become the second English captain to register 21 wins or more in Tests. Michael Vaughan (26) holds a record for England for most Test wins as captain.
# Graeme Swann (596 wickets at an average of 32.18 in 215 matches) requires just four wickets to complete his 600 first-class wickets.
# Praveen Kumar (199 wickets at an average of 23.44 in 44 matches) requires just one wicket to complete his 200 in first-class cricket.
# Tim Bresnan (293 wickets at an average of 30.67 in 105 matches) needs just seven wickets to complete his 300 in first-class cricket.
# If Rahul Dravid hits a century, he will record three hundreds in a Test series for the second time against England in England. In the 2002 Test series in England, he had recorded three centuries in consecutive innings - 115 at Nottingham, 148 at Leeds and 217 at The Oval. In the present series, he has recorded 103 not out at Lord's and 117 at Trent Bridge.
