India vs Australia 3rd ODI, Highlights, Melbourne - Virat Kohli Ton in Vain as Glenn Maxwell Guides Hosts to Series Win
Glenn Maxwell smashed a brilliant 83-ball 96 to help Australia successfully chase down 296-run target against India at the Melbourne Cricket Cricket Ground. Virat Kohli saw his 24th ton go in vain as the hosts eased past the target with seven balls to spare. Get Highlights and updates.

Glenn Maxwell cancelled out Virat Kohli's brilliant ton as Australia sealed the one-day series by three wickets. Kohli smashed 117 to help India post 295/6, but Maxwell's counter-attacking cricket ensured that hosts were in the game despite losing wickets at regular intervals at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Maxwell who came in after George Bailey's dismissal, started the counter-punch. Australia were also helped by the fact that they got off to a great start as they added 48 runs in just 7th over. Â Marsh brought up his half-century to keep Aussies going. Â

16:30 IST: A brilliant unbeaten 83-ball 96 from Glenn Maxwell helped Australia take an unbeaten 3-0 in the five match series. Maxwell came in at a time when Australia were struggling and his counter-attacking game took the game away from India. Faulkner sealed the game with seven balls to spare. Australia are 296/7 after 48.5 overs.

16:15 IST: Jadeja to bowl his 9th over and first ball gets an outside edge -- runs down to boundary. Maxwell-Faulkner partnership is taking the game away from India. Maxwell then hits inside out for second boundary off the over. A single to end the over as 10 runs came from Jadeja over.  Australia are 271/6 after 46 overs.
16:10 IST:Â Â Maxwell is standing in way of an Indian win and he is smashing the Indian bowlers to all corners. Umesh, who looked good so far was taken to cleaners as he leaked 15 runs off Indian pacers over -- possible game changing over. Â Australia are 252/6 after 43 overs.
16:00 IST:Â Â Ravindra Jadeja comesback into the attack as Faulkner picks up a single. Maxwell rotates the strike with another single. Jadeja is keeping things tight giving just single. Â Australia are 237/6 after 42 overs.
15:55 IST:  Glenn Maxwell brings his half-century in style as he smashes Sran for a six over point. The Australian all-rounder's 13th half-century is leading the way for the hosts as we enter the last 10 overs. Australia are 231/6 after 40 overs.
15:45 IST:  WICKET!!! Ishant Sharma now gets his second wicket as he had Matthew Wade caught by Shikhar Dhawan for 6. Wade looking to pull Ishant top-edged it to Dhawan, who was stationed at mid-on. India right back in it now. Australia are 216/6 after 38.1 overs.

15:27 IST:  WICKET!!! Mitchell Marsh now has to make the long walk back after being run out for 17. Needless, really, when Maxwell called Marsh for the third run. Rocket throw from Umesh combined with MS DHoni's brilliant glove work finds Marsh short by few inches. India right back in it. Australia are 204/5 after 35.1 overs.
15:10 IST:Â Â Sran now comes back into the attack. He has been pretty expensive today. Round the wicket this time from Sran as Maxwell pulls for a couple. Maxwell glides one through third man for a single. This is a much better bowling display from Sran in this spell. Â Â Australia are 199/4 after 34 overs.
14:50 IST:  WICKET!!! Ishant Sharma gets his first wicket, as he induced an edge from Shaun Marsh for 62. Marsh was steering Australia's chase but the elder of the two Marsh brothers, poked at a wide delivery, giving a simple catch to MS Dhoni behind the stumps. Australia are 167/4 after 30 overs.
14:46 IST:  WICKET!!! Ravindra Jadeja has picked up his second wicket. This time it's Gerorge Bailey, who has to make the long walk back after being stumped for 23. Bailey, who has been in form of his life against India, was forced out of his crease by Jadeja's delivery and Dhoni was there to whip the bails off in a flash. Is this the signof good things to come for Team India? Australia are 150/3 after 26.4 overs.

14:32 IST:Â Â Shaun Marsh slammed a 53-ball half-century as Australia continue their march towards India's total. The opener completed his 12th ODI half-century with a single off Rishi Dhawan in the 22nd over. The Men in Blue have rarely ruffled Kangaroos in the chase and are looking good to complete a hattrick of wins. Â Australia are 131/2 after 22 overs.
14:20 IST:Â Â Ravindra Jadeja now introduced into the attack. None of the Indian bowlers have been able to create any sort of impact. And as we speak, Jadeja Strikes. The left-arm spinner had the Aussie skipper edging it to Ajinkya Rahane in slips to give visitors much-needed breakthrough. Smith was making a long walk back to the pavillion after a fiery 41 off just 45 balls. Â Australia are 113/2 after 19 overs.
14:08 IST:Â Â 100 up for Australia in 16th over!! India at the same stage were 34 runs behind Australia's score. Smith-Marsh duo have added half-century stand to put India on the backfoot. None of the Indian bowlers have been able to put any sort of pressure on hosts -- barring Rishi Dhawan, who has looked the best of the lot. 14:05 IST: Rishi Dhawan has been impressive so far -- at least he has kept the run flow in check with his variations. Smith and Marsh have already added 35 runs so far. So won't be a bad option to bring in spin. A single to end the over as Dhawan has so far just given away 9 runs from 2 overs. Australia are 83/1 after 13 overs.
13:50 IST: In-form Steven Smith is taking on Indian bowlers. He has been helped by the fact that Indian bowlers have missed their lengths and have been pretty erratic. Smith has managed to hit the boundary boards thrice, while  Marsh has hit four boundaries so far. Australia are 65/1 after 10 overs.

13:30 IST:Â WICKET!!! Umesh provides the much-needed breakthrough for India as he removes Finch for 21. Finch who was looking good in the middle, edged one to MS Dhoni behind the stumps, much to the delight of the bowler. Australia are 48/1 after 7.1 overs.

Sran, who impressed one and all at Gabba, seems to have lost his fizz with the ball as well. Finch's record at Melbourne is pretty impressive as he has scored two centuries here. Australia are 26/0 after 4 overs.
13:10 IST: Aaron Finch now hits the boundary boards as he creams Barinder Sran through the offside for his first boundary. Australia are 11/0 after 2 overs.
13:05 IST:Â Welcome back to Australia's chase and Umesh Yadav will open the proceedings with the ball. First up is a a delivery that leaves Shaun Marsh. Marsh gets off the mark as he latches on a wide delivery from Umesh to dispatch it to the boundary. Australia are 4/0 after 1 over.
12:20 IST: End of innings!! That's the end of Indian innings as India finish with 295/7. Virat Kohli led India's charge with a brilliant 117, while Shikhar Dhawan scratchy 68 helped the visitors shake off the early jolt.Â
The duo added 119 runs for second wicket. Ajinkya Rahane then combined well with Kohli as he hit a scored his 15th ODI half-century and added 109 runs for third wicket. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni slogged his way to 23 runs off just nine balls. Â

11:51 IST:  Wicket!!! Ajinkya Rahane departs after a brilliant 50. Rahane, who came in after the fall of Shikhar Dhawan added 109 runs with Kohli for fourth wicket to keep India's momentum. Rahane's 55-ball knock came to an end after he hit one straight to long-on where Steven Smith took a good relay catch to dismiss India's No. 4. India are 249/3 after 45 overs.

11:44 IST: Century!!! Virat Kohli reaches his 24ths ODI ton -- fourth against Australia -- with a single off Kane Richardson. Kohli looked aggressive right from the outset, but slowed down as he approached his century. Kohli raced to 99 with a boundary off Richardson and completed the three-figure mark with a single. In his knock he hit six boundaries and one six. India are 230/2 after 43 overs.
11:38 IST:Â Australia have things back nicely with their pacers. It could also be the fact that Kohli is closing-in on his century. Rahane is trying his best to find the fence but with big grounds, India have been restricted to couples only. Â India are 220/2 after 42 overs.
11:25 IST:Â Kane Richardson returns with 12 overs left in the Indian innings. First up Kohli chips down the track but hits it straight to point. Richardson has been on the mark from the word go. Kohli gets a single off the third ball. 116 dot balls so far in Indian innings. Kohli clops off his pads for yet another single. Another good over for hosts as they conceded only three runs. Â India are 196/2 after 39 overs.
11:10 IST: Scott Boland continues and Kohli chips down the track only to get a top edge but lands safely. Kohli follows it with a massive six off Boland -- first of the match. Indians have up the ante here and are taking on Boland. Rahane and Kohli bring their 50-runs stand. India are 184/2 after 36 overs.
11:00 IST: Glenn Maxwell continues and Rahane chips down the track and hits inside out for a boundary through extra cover. Brilliant shot! Kohli works one down to the third one area for a single. Seven from the over as India are 171/2 after 34 overs.
10:45 IST: 150 up for India!!! Hastings continues as Kohli slaps one through point for a single. Rahane then guides the ball towards third man for another single. India bring their 150-run mark with a single from Kohli. Rahane creams one straight past the bowler for a boundary. Seven from the over as India are 154/2 after 31 overs.
10:35 IST:Â WICKET!!! John Hastings brought back into the attack as Kohli dabs one for a couple through point. India have up the ante in last few overs -- especially Dhawan who is looking to make the most of the start. Dhawan slog sweeps Hastings -- gets a top edge and goes behind wicketkeeper for a boundary. Overconfident Dhawan is castled by Hastings to give Australia the much-needed breakthrough for hosts. India are 124/2 after 27 overs.
10:25 IST: Virat Kohli has smashed a brilliant half-century. The India's No. 3 smashed 51-ball half-century with four boundaries. And as we speak, Dhawan too brings his half-century off 76 balls, with six hits to fence in his knock. The duo have added 97-runs so far for second wicket. India are 111/1 after 23 overs.

10:15 IST:Â Shikhar Dhawan chips down the track and smashes Marsh for a boundary through midwicket. India have found it tough to score in the middle overs, but still have managed to maintain a decent run in the middle. India are 94/1 after 21 overs.

Much-needed one for India after Rohit departed early. 9:32 IST: 50 up for India!! India bring their 50-run mark with a boundary from Dhawan. The Indian opener is looking good in the middle as he smashed Faulkner for a boundary towards midwicket. The Kohli-Dhawan duo have steadied the ship as they have put on a 36-runs stand so far to help India shake off the early jitters. India are 41/1 after 13 overs.
